Re: BXT Road 115 (BXT-ROAD-115)
Hi, congratulations on your BXT 115. Looks awesome!

I ended up going with the Vb-r-177 frame of which I had slipping seat post issues. I solved it but still not comfortable (i.e. having phobia it is gonna start slipping again when least expected).

I am still on the lookout for a circular clamped seat post bike that also has dropped seat stays and looks aero too like the Yishunbike R096-D.

I want that too! Dropped seatstays, preferably 27.2 post and half-ish aero like the Tarmac SL7

The SL7 Fact-r 12 is the dream bike, but 6000 USD for a frame is too much.

Sad thing with all the Chinese frames that quality control and weight is through the roof.

Re: I Am Slowly Getting Fed Up (Crybaby Rant) I cannot recall to have used warranty claims that much for Chinese products, haven't bought THAT much either, mostly accessories and all my wheels.

But I do have to give +10 points to "timetec bike" which are selling wheels. Extremely good customer service, ordered a custom wheelset for my gravel, pretty decent wheelset at 999 grams. Very satisfied and pleased with this one, I then ordered a pair of road wheels.

Somehow the front rim of the road wheels developed a white coating on the entire rim. This turned out to be a failure/problem with the matte varnish coat that they had used. The varnish did not protect from UV, so the UV from the sun reacted with the carbon and made it all white :P

When I contacted Timetec bike he would discuss this with his engineer,  he then came back to me and admitted fault and would replace the rim free of charge.

But as I would had to pay 100 dollar for a LBS to have the wheel rebuilt I asked for two new rims in case there ever would be an issue again or one of the rims would crack as they are extremely lightweight.

I received 2 new rims for free on warranty so there are some Chinese companies that actually honor their service and take responsibility :D With that said, I have a custom modified Tarmac SL7 copy on the way from TFSA, take on wood it is flawless

Re: *picture heavy* TFSA tarmac SL7 copy - sketchy AF
Sorry, off topic but id like to know what are your thought on the bars? Ive been considering the one pro bars for a while too. And the manufacturer direct price makes them even more tempting.. have you weighed them yet? Also, do they come with two sets of headset covers or something? In this screenshot from the alibaba page, they list type one and type two

Hey thats alright :) There is ZERO information about this bar on the internet so I understand your curiosity! I was gonna save it to later as I am gonna do a huge build thread once I got all pieces together.

But here you go :) This one, I bought directly from the manufacturer on Alibaba it cost me $112 USD on Alibaba + $27 in taxes charged by Alibaba. I then got taxed again but only $11 on Swedish customs borders (main cost is a fee). Seller put value declaration of $11. After some hassle with Alibaba support and tax return request, I then got the $27 back as I was charged twice :)

Weight is pretty decent for a 400x100mm bar. I was first gonna buy the Roval Alpinist as it is only 233 gram for same size, but this one is hundred times more AERO + it got a small degree of flare which is exactly what I was looking for + fully integrated wiring.

I was sceptical at first, cheap bar, no information etc. But WOW!! Not ridden it yet, but my god it feels sturdy in hand. Doesn't matter how much pressure of force I use try to twist it. It is rock solid super stiff.

Finish is TOP NOTCH! I have two 3T aeroghiaia bars which retail €349 euro a piece at 240 gram, they are way more flexy than this one. But they have the same high quality finish. Carbon inside looks very decent and the matte paint is very good. If you put this next to anything else I couldn't tell it was only a hundred bucks.

My intention is to remove the paint and just run naked raw carbon with clearcoat.

350 grams including stem screws and mount (it uses two M6 hex screws and a pushplate against the steerer).

The internal nut fasterners for computer mount works fine too, the classic matte 3K carbon computer mount from Aliexpress works perfect for this application.

The handlebar comes with a few spacers inluding both of the two headset pieces you pictured above. BUT!!!! bear in mind, please go back to my other pictures and you will see that the included compression ring ONLY works with frames with a recessed headset bearing. My bearing is leveled with the frame, hence it will not work as the compression ring is way too thick, therefore I will/have come up with a custom solution that I will try later on.

There are, as discussed earlier in the thread, custom pieces you can buy from one seller on AliE for different frame models. But they charge $63 USD for a Tarmac SL7 adapter which is ridiculous for a plastic piece considering the entire bar is just twice the price.

Again, it is incredible stiff by my judgement. There is just no way I can put any flex in it by twisting the bar ends.

!!! AND a very important thing to notice!! I bought the 400mm wide version, but they measure C-C bar ends. So the real measurement is 385mm C-C hood to hood. Which is perfect for me as I like it narrow, but maybe not for all.

So if you are using a 400 bar and want 400mm hood to hood, go up one size :)

Here is the link to the manufacturer, the ones on Aliexpress are just re-sellers with branding. There is also a gravel version of the same bar with wider bar ends. As Alibaba is usually, mainly B2B, I chose the "samle version" to only buy one handlebar.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Be aware that you will find these bearings with different hight, e.g.

I finally went for the stainless steel 7mm version to avoid immediate rust and to extend the maintanence period of a fully integrated headset. These bearings are sitting snug but less recessed compared to yours.

Mine (almost the same frame) came with a 7 upper and 8mm lower bearing.

I replaced both with lightweight FSA MR128R (same as Cane creek AER) 7mm bearings. I do not see any reason to have an 8mm bottom, only increases the gap between frame and fork.

Also, saved like a total of 15 grams with premium lightweight bearings

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
I had the same problem with my VB-099.

Unless we both ordered the wrong FSA headset, then the bottom bearing / bearing seat is slightly oversized for VB 099 / 168.  The FSA bottom bearing won't work.  Way too loose.  Top is fine.  Also the FSA c-clip is too thin ... there's play on my 099.  Going to have to re-do with the fatter new VB one.

Loose, play, you mean between bearing and frame? That could be sorted with tinfoil or something.

I would believe the VB bottom bearing is 8mm and 52mm diameter. The FSA is most likely 7mm and 51.8mm which is very common. Those 0.2mm actually makes a difference but could be fixed with something thin between frame and bearing.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame Did that FSA ACR top cap come with the frame?

Otherwise, the problem is that the top cap/compression ring you have is made for recessed bearing frames.

Same issue with my frame as the bearing sits too close to the top. I am not sure which frames are using the recessed method but as FSA is pushing hard and is so popular I will assume there are lots of frames :D

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Sounds like the geometry of the 168 isn't for everyone. And that's okay. However, you should probably consider yourself lucky...

I have the opposite problem in that most frames simply aren't long and low enough for me without requiring some extreme length stem.

Not sure which is more extreme: Needing to push the saddle far forward to reduce reach over the bottom bracket, or using a 140mm+ stem to accommodate reach while keeping the stack low.

Just watched almost your entire 168 video on YT this morning while having breakfast.

I mean besides the room for improvements and such. You are such a great guy in front of the camera. And with all this "room for improvements" it also have its own charm, you are just starting up and being new with the entire YT influencer thing it is also understandable everything is not perfect.

What I wanna say is, you have  an incredible future ahead of you if you continue doing what you do. With frequent uploads, more content and some improvements you could easily be +100K subs by the end of 2023.

Just keep doing what you do man! More ride videos and more tech savvy stuff :D You are awesome

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame That is wild!

And I feel sketchy about my fork 2mm too wide  ???

That fork is a death trap!!! How on earth could someone thread in that axle, wrap and pack it in a box and be like "yup yup looks fine to me"
