That black Super EVO looks like a real competitor to Canyons ultimate CFR if using similar sort of carbon fiber. But not possible to buy for Europeans?

Dude, where did you come from and are there more like you?

Seriously though, out of curiosity are you actually part of the industry or just a prolific researcher of all bike things in China? Of course, only if you are comfortable answering

I gather that you are actually located in China.

Hahah this!!! I had exactly your question in mind as well  ;D

Stiffweenies is just way too knowledgeable about the Chinese market not to be a Chinese or living somewhere close. With that I assume you also speak/read Chinese since the amount of knowledge you carry is not available to english speaking people and without reach for translating tools  :o

Bonus question @stiffweenies what do you think of this? https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/T1000-Carbon-Bike-Handlebar-Fully-Internal_1600457733782.html?spm=a2756.order-detail-ta-bn-b.0.0.3acc2fc2w9Nt1I
It is the same handlebar that is sold as "THE ONE PRO" on Aliexpress, although the bars on AliE must be re-sellers as this one looks like the OEM manufacturer. *I have ordered one from here as there is an option to "buy a sample of min Q. order 1"

I cannot recall to have used warranty claims that much for Chinese products, haven't bought THAT much either, mostly accessories and all my wheels.

But I do have to give +10 points to "timetec bike" which are selling wheels. Extremely good customer service, ordered a custom wheelset for my gravel, pretty decent wheelset at 999 grams. Very satisfied and pleased with this one, I then ordered a pair of road wheels.

Somehow the front rim of the road wheels developed a white coating on the entire rim. This turned out to be a failure/problem with the matte varnish coat that they had used. The varnish did not protect from UV, so the UV from the sun reacted with the carbon and made it all white :P

When I contacted Timetec bike he would discuss this with his engineer,  he then came back to me and admitted fault and would replace the rim free of charge.

But as I would had to pay 100 dollar for a LBS to have the wheel rebuilt I asked for two new rims in case there ever would be an issue again or one of the rims would crack as they are extremely lightweight.

I received 2 new rims for free on warranty so there are some Chinese companies that actually honor their service and take responsibility :D With that said, I have a custom modified Tarmac SL7 copy on the way from TFSA, take on wood it is flawless

IIRC TFSA is the OEM behind brands like Sava, Twitter and Delihea

Rather than being a simple purveyor of generic frames like most open mould brands, TFSA is a bit different because they got their start making literal fake frames. There is no guarantee that tolerance critical OEM parts (especially seatposts) will fit either because although they may appear close, dimensions will never be truly 1:1 since they're not working off the same factory mould.

You never stop surprising me, like a thick bible with answers to everything and incredibly valuable knowledge! You are amazing!!!!  :D

TFSA have a website saying they are like 600 employees on 10 000 square meters and with just recently open aliexpress shop I could imagine that factory producing frames under a variety of different names.

Perhaps Darimo or Berk could custom make a lighter seatpost if I send them one of the Chinese ones  8) Still curious if a original fork is possible :D

I am talking to this seller from TFSA (which I never heard of before and they are new on Aliexpress) in case they could fix a custom version for me without shifter holes and raw carbon from the mould.

As the seller did not have a headset to use a regular stem...
This starts me thinking if it is possible to use a genuine Tarmac SL7 headset and even maybe a genuine Fact 12R fork. There are no forks on the internet, but perhaps it could be ordered as a spare part through LBS.

Darimo seatpost? Understanding from the Velobuild 168 thread, Velobuild had a slightly different shape to their seatpost making it impossible to fit a Darimo or a genuine SL7 post. Is it the same for all "copy" frames?

66
In my opinion, the real S-works tarmac SL7 is one of the most incredible and prettiest bike frames there is.  :-*  8)

While searching for something similar I have realized that there are a dozen different copies with the same geometry but under different names and specifications.

The BXT 115 with a round seatpost, Velobuild 168, Trifox X18, TFSA JH-033 and probably a few more that I missed.  :o

Most of them are marketed as T1000 carbon which I doubt and they are all quite heavy, some are on par with the original Specialized Tarmac SL7 Fact 10R.

But please post pictures of yours, weight (and spec) and please share your experience  :D  ;D

Cheers!

Hi, congratulations on your BXT 115. Looks awesome!

I ended up going with the Vb-r-177 frame of which I had slipping seat post issues. I solved it but still not comfortable (i.e. having phobia it is gonna start slipping again when least expected).

I am still on the lookout for a circular clamped seat post bike that also has dropped seat stays and looks aero too like the Yishunbike R096-D.

I want that too! Dropped seatstays, preferably 27.2 post and half-ish aero like the Tarmac SL7

The SL7 Fact-r 12 is the dream bike, but 6000 USD for a frame is too much.

Sad thing with all the Chinese frames that quality control and weight is through the roof.

The upcoming Elilee Blize will have an ultralight 680g variant constructed from a mixture of Toray T1100 and M40X. You also have the Dizo Epic Pro which is constructed from Mitsubishi MR70 and Dyneema. These two won't be cheap and they certainly won't they sit at that 2-3K US sweetspot. According to Elilee, T1100 costs 5x of T800 and M40X costs 10x of T800...you do the math. For reference Elilee's top level EVO XXE triathlon frame retailed at around 4.5K US in China. Finally you have the not-as-high-end Pardus Robin Evo that employs a mixture of T1100, T800 and M40 for its carbon layup.

Do note that carbon supply is massively constrained worldwide which means that there is next to no excess material left for no name brands. Since imported material is hard to come by and there are actually export restrictions placed on top level T1100 due to military applications, most open mould makers source their material from Sinofibers who produce T1000 and T800 domestically in China. Sinofibers has small batch T1100 & M40X equivalent material (ZT9 & ZM40X) on top of their recently commercialised T1000 but currently only T800 (ZT8) is mass produced and readily available.

hey thanks for that! Great info.
That Eilee Blize looks incredible and very similar weight to the Canyon ultimate CFR.

The Pardus also look interesting. But whatever I search on google I cannot find any place to buy any of the brands you mentioned? The Eilee doesn't exist apart from a picture on Twitter. The Pardus, no where to buy it or info about frameset :(

I would go for a Seka Exceed RDC but it is not aggressive enough, too much endurance.

69
Hey, been reading a lot on this forum and WW.

My question: Are there any frames that can compete on the same weight like the $5000 frames by Specialized, Pinarello and a few others?

The only one I know about that would be an option is the Seka Exceed RDC, which is just slightly heavier than the top tier frames but also not very racy aggressive geometry. Read that the Seka is more laidback.

The Velobuild 168 looks fantastic as it is a copy of the Tarmac SL7 geometry, but it is a lot heavier.

I don't really care about pricing, I understand that a Velobuild frame for $500 cannot compete with a +$5000 S-works frame, but why is there nothing in between? I wouldn't mind paying $2-3000 for a top-tier frame from China.
