Re: TanTan FM699 build.
Stuffed in some foam that we had lying around from packaging. Gave it a quick shake and nothing..no rattle so I'll leave it as is for now. Went ahead and pressed in the bb92 gxp. Was tuff at first but then the tool pulled through. Used some loctite 609 on there so hoping for zero squeakyness. So far this frame has been great to work with. Like a glove. Test fit Plenty of clearance August 01, 2020, 10:16:29 PM |

Re: TanTan FM699 build.
Getting there. Installed the derailleur, some cabling, shifter and now need to bleed the brakes since I cut em down. Waiting on some new bars and stem but this is pretty much it. August 02, 2020, 09:22:24 PM |

Re: TanTan FM699 build.
It's really 22.2 but didnt catch it lol. That's on nobby nics and xt pedals. I have a set of Sw fast traks to install but I've been lazy. Hoping for lower 21#s. Anyone recommend any real light spd's? August 19, 2020, 12:10:08 AM |

Another tantan fm699 size small for the kiddo
This is my 3rd TanTan carbon frame I've built up. A 699, a 299, and this fm699 Put this little guy together relatively easily with some spare parts from the stash for my 13 yo TanTan frames have been relatively easy and pleasure to build. I admittedly have not tried other brands but i'm not one to have high tolerance for surprises during builds..hence the good words. anyway here at 24.09#'s heavy tires thats for sure with a full squeeze of juice in there tho

Re: Another tantan fm699 size small for the kiddo
Its for my 13 old. he rides bmx and am trying to get him started on mtb. This was a build with some left over tires from the other bikes. Once he goes through these and feels comfortable I"ll give him some other choices. He'll prefer grip over a lighter set at this point. Maybe some Rekons next. For Texas Hill Country trails, these Maxxis are actually perfect. Too bad theyre so heavy. A plush bike to get started is what i'm after right now so these will be just fine till he gets acquainted. All depends on how he rides it. I expect him dropping the seat and hitting the pump track or some short track for fun. With all the parts we have here i could have built this a few different ways. Stay tuned when I unlazy and throw a Rockshox dropper on there. I want this tossable and thrashable. August 27, 2021, 07:48:47 AM |

Re: Another tantan fm699 size small for the kiddo
The heavier tires will certainly help not getting this thing too light. If anything I may switch out the stem for something pretty short like a 40mm. This just gets him on it for now but as he continues we’ll reevaluate. Good input, thanks. August 28, 2021, 07:16:57 AM |
