Peter said the max tire size is 28.

I hope I can still fit 28s on the 25mm (17mm inside width) rims I am getting.  That will be the first thing I check when the frame arrives.

Looks awesome, when are you supposed receive your frame? I'm hoping to place an order in a month or so, planning ultegra di2. Looking forward to seeing your build.

Thanks.  Peter said 45-50 days on the frame, and 15 days on the rims, plus shipping, as they all had to be made for my order.

I will update as parts, from xmcarbonspeed and elsewhere (Ultegra, but not di2), arrive with weights and pics, along with my impressions.  Just keep in mind I am a mountain bike guy building a road bike as I find myself riding my hard tail on the road when the trails are wet/muddy.

A little technical info:
It uses a BB86 bottom bracket, 100 x 15mm 100 x 12mm front thru axle, 142 x 12mm rear thru axle, and a proprietary D shaped seatpost that comes with the frame and fork.

It uses the new flat mount road brake standard, which can use a 140mm or 160mm front rotor (depending on the orientation of the front brake mounting plate, and a 140mm rear rotor (which can be changed to a 160mm rotor with an adapter plate).

My plans:
Mostly Shimano Ultegra 2x11 build
Shimano ST-RS685 shifters/brake levers and BR-RS805 brake calipers.
Hope hubs
TM38C-25 tubeless ready carbon clincher rims, 25mm wide, 38mm deep, no brake track(from Peter).
Carbon B6 bars (from Peter).
Going to use a 100mm stem I have laying around until I decide what length I want.

Edited to correct front axle size to new specs.

Oh, cool, you're a local! I've only been to Blue Marsh a couple times, but it's always been good.
Yep, just across the Delaware river in NJ.  We will have to get together for a ride some time.

I ordered a 092 frame, starting the build thread tonight.

I ordered a CS-092SL disc brake road bike frame from Peter at http://www.xmcarbonspeed.com earlier this week.  This is a disc brake thru axle road bike.
Peter estimates 45-50 days so I will be adding some more info on the frame, parts ordered, and ongoing updates in the coming weeks.

Vendor Discussion & Reviews / Re: Chinese Carbon Vendor List

He's now working very hard to convince me to buy a CS-092 road bike frame.  ;D  As soon as I can figure out the size I want, and I can save the money, I will order!

I just orderded a CS-092 frame from Peter earlier this week.  Guess I have to get a build thread started.

As always, dealing with Peter was a pleasure.

29er / Re: Different thru axel for Cs 057

I have a 256 frame but I think the dropouts are the same as the 57.

I had trouble with the stock axle coming loose so I switcjed to a Shimano thru axle, AX76, which works great.  Just make sure when you get one that comes with the axle and nut as the threads are different.

Thanks for the suggestion CMH,  the width is in the ballpark and they look like very nice rims, but the problem I have seen with most of the mtb rims is that they are rated for a much lower pressure than the rims designed for road use.

I will check with Peter when I email him tomorrow, but tonight I am kicking back and relaxing after riding Blue Marsh Lake today, which always kicks my ass.

I have been emailing with Peter about ordering a 92sl.  I just have to figure out which rims I want to get (as I don't really want brake tracks on a disc brake bike),  and make a few more parts choices.

As the frame will be made to order (approx 45 days) I may just order the frame and get everything else sorted out while I wait.

After The Ride / Re: Chinertown Strava Group?
« on: August 06, 2015, 07:28:40 AM »
Joined.

I just use my phone, Samsung S5, which works well and has good battery life.  My old S3 would lose gps and run down the battery.  I tried a Garmin 200 but it cut off too many corners in twisty singletrack riding.

29er / Re: 29+ frames?

I have been waiting for a 29+ chiner frame for a while.  As soon as someone can confirm that it will fit a 29+ 3" tire on a 50mm rim I will order this frame.

Also started using nipples with 5.5mm hex heads which are so much easier/faster to work with

I completely agree.  I have used Sapim hex head nipples in the last 7 or 8 wheelsets I have built and they build up quick, strong and easy.  They also have some of the best anodizing I have seen.

Nope, have seen fatties out there but usually riding with my wife on her "skinny" bike. Only time I've ridden with fat bikes was at the beginning of the season on a snow ride - which was why I decided to try it out, I was on my FS 29er at the time.

Next time you are in the pines try riding the enduro dirt bike trails or fire cuts where the ground/sand is soft.  That is where the fat bike starts to shine, when you ride where it is too soft for a regular bike to work well

Another place that I was surprised that I liked the fat bike was Wissahickon.  I really enjoyed the rocky downhills.  That should be relatively local for you.
