Post by: 1Sigma on April 29, 2022, 11:03:45 AM
***EDIT: Noooo! IG Reels cuts off the end that actually shows the weight difference!  I updated the link.
Before ready-to-ride weight (incl. bottle cages, pedals, and computer mount) = 7.71kg
After ready-to-ride weight = 7.29kg
“Showroom” weight = 7.02kg***

Hey all,
Just wanted to share my spring upgrade with you all.
Changed:
Cassette - weight savings
Chain  - weight savings
Wheels  - weight savings
Tires - weight neutral
Jockey Wheel  - weight savings, but honestly cosmetic
Seat hardware  - weight savings, barely
Bottle cages  - weight gain
Handlebar tape  - weight gain

Made a video of the process:

Impressive! Do you think you can stay under 7.5kg with a 2x setup?

Probably just barely. Maybe just over.
Swapping out 1X for 2X hardware adds 141grams (my Passquest 110BCD chainring with Stone 5-bolt adapter isn't the lightest option out there)

Leaves 60 grams for the the cable and housing.

Although 1X wasn't a weight decision.  2X just isn't advantageous for where I ride, and how I ride.
