Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! One of the local guys just got the frame.
There is a noticeable lateral play in the lower link right out of the box.

Don't even know what say.
I mean, in total there are issues with upper linkage, lower linkage and rear triangle, lower linkage and front triangle...

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! That's not my frame but it is the first one locally, afaik. Usually when someone buys chinese frame some issues are expected, though there are quite a few different chinese XC frames around and I've never heard of so many issues with them as with 831.
We have a good mechanic who works with all kinds of stuff and this frame should be going directly to him for fixes and improvements. It would be interesting to hear what he thinks and how the build is going to go in general.

As for me, I'm waiting for more info on fs830, hope Eddy will come up with answers and photos.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!

What kind information you need for FS830? Let's me know, thanks.

The questions were asked in this thread http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,3522.msg33222.html#msg33222
See that last post from JJJ and I'm pretty sure that it's not only me who would like to see detailed photos of pivots and linkages.
Thanks.

Re: FS830 Enduro Frame - Stef Biggel’s build My friend had that ztto bb and bearings failed after a month or so of regular xc rides(3-4 long rides a week).
As far as I know he just hammered out stock bearings and pressed in enduro bearings into the cups. It has been more than a year already and still works.

Re: Tideace 2022 New Enduro Mold FS838 Being Production Geometry chart? Leverage curves?

Water bottle mounts like on Norco Range?

Norco uses a different rocker link for each of the frame sizes. Have haideli adressed this in any way?

Re: Tideace 2022 New Enduro Mold FS838 Being Production I had gt sensor 2014(btw, one of the brand frames which didn't have spacers between bearings) and chainstays around lower pivot were scratched as hell when I sold it, so yeah,  bash plate is a must around lower pivot

Also it would be interesting to see how haideli implemented the idler and the chain guide around it.
IMO chainguide and that bash plate need to be good and available as spares since it's unique parts to this frames.

The Range also uses bolt-on metal dropouts and the carbon ends at the rear pivot (where seatstay and chainstay meet). The 838 is all carbon in this area. That might not be problematic, but there’s probably a reason why Norco went that route.

Speculations

I'm thinking that's might be so they have the same rear carbon triangle across all sizes while still being able to adjust chainstays length for different frame sizes.  Should be easier / cheaper to machine dropouts and rocker link rather than the whole different triangles altogether for each size.

Haideli doesn't bother with different chainstay lengths so hopefully that might not be an issue.

/Speculations

Re: Tideace 2022 New Enduro Mold FS838 Being Production
So I used the screenshot from Linkage X3 to look at the leverage ratio. Not quite as progressive as one might want, definitely not coil shock compatible since it's completely flat towards the end. Leaves room to hope that this screenshot is not the final design.
This is kinda odd, since norco specifically states that new range is something like coil shock specific. Had Haideli screwed up kinematics?

Re: FS830 Enduro Frame - Stef Biggel’s build So how does it work with a coil shock?

Re: Tideace 2022 New Enduro Mold FS838 Being Production Eddy,
since the frame looks slightly different from what it was on the first page, updated graphs from linkage(leverage curve, axle path, etc.), geometry tables would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
