Re: Tubeless Wheel Plugs.
With tape you have two edges which are the only main points of failure and the tape often extends so far from the spoke holes that even minor bubbles or wrinkles etc can’t break the seal.

With plugs you get 28-32 circular points of failure and the plugs can become misaligned during or after installation in ways that aren’t possible with tape.

This isn’t to say that good ones can’t work. It’s saying that it’s an inherently more failure prone system and not by a little, but by a lot.

I am for their use with a standard tire and tube set up. it would be so much easier to do maintenance on the wheel...  Pop out a plug, tighten a spoke, pop in the plug. Bobs your uncle.. Actually Bobs my great uncle.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Anyone else have issue with the separate bar and stem? The holes in the bars are way too small to make the turns needed

Well you can always use hobby files to open or angle the holes a little bit more. That's what I did with the carbon bar I just got. It was cheaply made and the holes were misshapen and uneven. So I slowly and thoughtfully reshaped them. Also wear a mask when you do.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177
Most budget brands from the Far East should be treated as stepping stones rather than final destinations.

It's a great way to gain valuable bike building experience, before naturally progressing to the bike you actually want...

Time out even the budget bikes can be final destinations.  It depends. If you are just riding for fun and exercise and not racing.   A budget carbon bike is still a lot of bike for your money. As long as you have done your homework. You can end up with a final destination bike your first time. And that wasn't a joke about their safety.

Re: Groupset News Why can they just do a di2 meets sram style shifters. wired  and wireless. I mean if you have a swappable battery box you can easily add on a wired function.  Just in case. and the you still need wireless connectivity for computers. Its literally just a wireless protocol.   You can also have like and I2c or serial connection via wire.  All which run a servo to push pull in changing gears.  One could literally build a basic system with like a stm32 chip. linear servo. I really don't know why shimano's and srams systems are sooooo over priced.and why chinese companies dont have a system out yet.   Like the parts needed are maybe $30 worth of electronics. at the very most. I dont know how they are $1500 over the standard groupset.

Anyways I cant wait for cheaper chinese groupsets.

Its from the trst official which I think is the thrust clearance store. Or it could be a scam.  I am not sure. Use your judgement. And make a comment of what frame it is and if a scam or not.

Here is the OG thrust store.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218
To be clear - only the setup woes gave me mixed feelings.  Its pretty solid now and I'll report back after I've put some significant miles.  The build quality is very good for how much I've paid... However I'd be upset if I paid what Cane Creek is asking for full retail.  Seems like they've significantly cut costs saved weight with each generation ever since they bought the rights to the design. ;)

That being said, I'll probably swap to the unit you are using as soon as these things start malfunctioning... not taking chances with the brakes!

Also, to make the STL work, you still need the sharp metal piece...  maybe ill design something to redistribute that pressure you are speaking of as a second piece to this....

It was a choice between easily designing and printing something overnight for free and getting to ride the very next morning and ordering on AliEx and paying for shipping and waiting like a month.

Also PLA gets a bad rep for the properties you've mentioned but in order to degrade and take UV damage to failure it would take a quite a long time and neglect.  Im not worried about the temperature either as it's also mostly out of direct sunlight/UV, in a mostly occluded area of the bike, and if the weather got anywhere close to the melting point of PLA... lets just say we'd have a bigger environmental disaster to worry about. Besides, if I was really worried about the integrity of the part in question I can swap it out as part of every maintenance cycle like a brake pad as it only takes 5 minutes.  Also the most important consideration when choosing materials for me is I was too lazy to swap the filaments  :D
I've also purposely overbuilt the parts and printing it at 100% infill should be able to withstand repeated abuse.  I'll also report back on how the part holds up over time as its purely assumptions at this point without actual real world use.

If you leave your bike in the car, its going to melt the pla. Trust me I tries a number of prints in the car. I now do abs or petg for higher temp. and yes uv damage. but it will brake down on its own too.

Re: What is everyone's favorite Carbon fiber weave?
In that case, of the ones you like, my vote goes to x-weave.
Has a nice "edgy" look, that the tradition weaves lack

Edgy isnt the word I would use... Satisfying is the word I would use. I think it sparkles better and is more satisfying To see it shift in the light because of the bigger sections of weave. I was already leaning that way. its just 80 bucks more. I broke down and spent it. Because it will be more fun.  Maybe I should do a transparent pink or some thing on them.  That will take the edge off. lol

Re: Lexon Genius and how do you contact Lexon
Yep I stopped at 7 NM Could feel the soft aluminum hex start to give way. So hard to know. I will say the customer service s s from the  alibaba stores are terrible. Pretty sure it’s never a real person and always start off with “friend” “dear” even got “darling” once. I’m learning the product may be fine but ur on your own once it arrives

Nothing to do with the tread but I just want to say... You can tell me what to do, you arnt my real dad..

Signed Teagan

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
starting to look like a bike
waiting on OG-Evkin stem and bars to arrive, wasn't happy with the provided bar and stem because of cable routing tightness

the horror as I see there no tires and its on concrete.  Think of the scratches
