I want to 3d print stem spacers. is there any real advantage to them being 2 piece? or would one piece be ok? also I am going to do a version with an arm and a mount for a computer.

I am all torso and need a taller stem. for a more relaxed position.

As long as we're plugging frames that we like, here's what I ride and can recommend: https://www.ornanbike.com/r908-d-gravel_c62
Here's what I also considered and tbh I still kinda want one, just not crazy about the internal routing on gravel: https://www.yishunbike.com/product/g085-dadventure-gravel/

A value option that's ready to go: https://www.poseidonbike.com/products/dropbar-x?variant=43191079633124
I'm not crazy about the quick release situation on the Poseidon, but having owned two of them they just work. Very solid bikes. I converted one of them to thru axle with carbon wheels and full hydraulic 2x groupset and it was pretty awesome.
I'd recommend looking for a used one, they come up all the time for much cheaper.

Well it would seem to me if you switch to through axel/ carbon wheels/ new groupset and brakes...... Why not go get a carbon frame and build that up?

1000km Update!

Still in love with this frame. Stiff, rides like a dream and it fits my body type very well (loong arms) . Brake misalignment issue is still only 99% fixed, as I still have some disc rubbing when I go out of the saddle. Still hoping this will eventually fade when the brake pads bed in more, but I might have to do some more effort into re-centering again.

However, I don't have any issues with the frame. No cracks, no creaking, no rattling. Nothing!

is that a bell on your computer mount?

I would do some al wheels on my cheap beater bike for the rim brakes. these calpers are weird I swear I could fit 38mm tires easy.

I am wanting to build a gravel bike

Does anyone have suggestions for frames. And should I do rim or dics brakes?

I wonder if I could just slap some new wheels on my cheap beater road bike. It's rim brakes.

Please use Jagwire foam over the cables...I cannot stress this enough.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C32KBG9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Both Sebastian & I have the same frame & there is a rattle in the front on mine & it can get really annoying, so be liberal with the foam & you can always trim it later

Hey I finally got the foam. So where is the best places for it besides the down tube and stays? front fork? the handle bars?

Still looking forward to a community inspired bike frame, i.e. "ChinerTown" (...to agree on a suitable name) official frame with UCI certification, on which all our needs are met  8)

Have Fusion 360 and a 3d printer will travel....

You have another co2 tank that you can get refills at homebrewing or airsoft or welding supply  then you refill from the tank.

I have a homebrewing store that I use for beer and a small one for carbonate water. you can also get a high pressure pump for the tanks.

I saw these on aliex https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804642965636.html

Anyone use them or  try them... I bought one to try but I am curious if anyone else has

I've seen a few frighteningly cheap 3d printed saddles. They don't look great, and they're listed by stores that have been opened in the last few months. Not confidence inspiring.

That second one is straight up injection molded totally not 3d printed. Same as the other 14 buck saddle.

I would get the one trace velo uses. That one is proven at least.  Then again I am using a super cheap saddle. I dont know if I like it or not.

If you have a long torso you would want a longer reach with a high stack generally which would mean you would be getting further forward than most people(?). If you have a lot of spacers under your stem i'd advise the longer expander plug.

I have a 50mm expander on my forks, the only downside from my understanding is slight weight increase.

Oh ya, I got the biggest r218 frame for my legs with the seat post slammed and    with the longest reach handle bars. I am hoping that I dont need a longer stem like 150-190mm.  I am not going for speed. So I can have a little bit higher seating position. Which will take up some of my torso too.

I am probably going to build out a 168 or a gravel bike for the second frame at some point.

28
Yes, no, I mean, that part I understood. I should have added that I was referring to your second sentence (about the non-expanding bottom portion being able to provide structure - this would depend on the fit of that portion in the steerer).

That would depend for sure how the fit is

29
This should only work if the non-expanded portion would fit very snugly into the steerer tube; meaning the plug would have to be made for one specific inner dia and to really close tolerances (as far as "tolerances" go on the non-controlled surface of a cf part, at least). Text says something about SL7 forks ...

(In which case one could ask if an expander was needed at all. But that's probably another topic.)

I was thinking just that maybe a person would not want the expansion part on the steerer tube where there is not a clamp around the tube because carbon flexs. Which makes me at least pause

30
I mean I have experience with the Deemount and it's good. I can't comment on the second one but it certainly looks interesting, may be a bit too long even. The black extension below the actual expander plug - I'm not clear on what purpose it serves.

I think it doesn't expand so it doesn't stress the carbon below the stem where the spacer and in the head tube. But adds some more structure to help brace the carbon steering tube.
