Title: Suggestions for a 9 year old
Post by: zorinena on February 21, 2021, 09:44:20 AM
I am planning to build a light carbon MTB  for my 9 year old. Any suggestions. Can't seem to find any XS frames. Any suggestions from anyone where to start.

There are 9 years old that are tall and other not... ;)

The smallest frame I've built was a 14.5" CS-016 from Peter few years ago.
Not sure if he can still source them.
They are still in service after 5 years of hard rides and jumps.
Changing stem length with the years.

Now that my kids have outgrown them, it is time to find new frames.
The drawback are: QR axles and 26" wheels which mean I can't reuse them, while all other components are still fine.
A 27.5" would have been better, if it exists.

Hello

also looking for a 26 MTB frame for my 8 year old son,
he is 132 cm high,
most of the shops just offer 27.5 and 29er frames
any tips for 26er frames?

thanks

Here's a thread I started a few years back for a 14" frame for 26" wheels that I built for my daughter. The frame is still being sold by BXT, Seraph and a few others. Trailcraft bikes is also using the frame for one of their builds. I'd highly recommend using this frame as a base. It served my daughter well and is now with a friends son.
