I am also looking to get one of these, can you tell me which parts of the frame detailing is painted? I have heard that some of it is stick on decals!
How is the DNM Shock? There are some reviews that it's pretty good, great value for money. I'm thinking I will go for the Rockshox option though.

Looks really slick I have to say, I am planning to get groupset off AliExpress too (Shimano XT) My road bike I also got brakes and Crankset Shimano Ultegra and it's good stuff.

I have never had my seat post slip at all, I guess it's due to it being fully home and is the correct height for me!
The best way to stop a seat post from moving, cut a bit of the Rubbery clear plastic packaging that sheet sets come in, it's a little stretchy and it grips really well :-)

Chris did reply, but as my pictures were not great of the initial cracks and I had no time to wait to get it repaired he has taken it as "He will make a note of it" and as my repair is sweet, I've not asked for a replacement. I custom painted it so don't need the extra hassle. I am confident that if it does rear it's ugly head again, he will honour the warranty from the first contact I made about the issue.

Not sure about the Ztto Chain, but I think you would be better off getting a genuine one....."Everytime"
I got one off AliExpress, OG-Evkin 10 spd, 3000km later I was in the start box for a ITT and 3, 2,1,SNAP! It was well serviced and checked....just snapped and over the bars I went.

Some things you just get genuine!

Ive been using the Bryton Rider 420. Israel Start-Up Nation Pro cycling Team used them last year and there is a great review on them on Youtube.

Ive been using mine for over a year and it's brilliant, cheap and feature packed including linking to my power pedals ( I use Garmin Vector 3 Duals) I use on the track, road and mountain bikes. It is the best bang for buck if you want a pro level computer. Just get the head unit, then get a magene HR Belt and speed/cadence sensors. The App is ok, but only has setups for 2 bikes, but it's simple enough to manage.

I have done a pretty much full Chinese build using the Velobuild VB-R-068 (7.4Kg all up). I also used the Ztto BB BB109 Ceramic bearing, Just a word of warning, they wear out VERY fast! Less than 3000Km and mine was shot. Not a lot of riding in the wet but some, also was the same on my track bike using the same BB. So I have gone back to a std Shimano BB. Also, the OG-Evkin SL 10 speed chain, chuck it in the bin, snapped it in a TT start. So stick with Shimano Original chain, or known brand. Other than that, my ALiExpress bought Shimano Crankset and brakes have been mint and looking to get Shimano XT for a Mtn Bike build from AliExpress.

Hi, Last year I got the rim brake version, VB-R-068 and up to now I have done over 3000Km, a few weeks ago it developed a creak in the headset, after trying a few things I removed and checked the fork and there was a crack in the steerer tube. I have made a repair using high modulus carbon fiber and epoxy resin and it has solved the problem. I have just emailed Chris to ask about if anyone else has had an issue...and of course warranty claim for a new fork. So, just have a close look at the steerer tube near the bottom on the tapered part, it looks like a split line mark from the mold but this was a little more than a line.

I looked at the Costelo bikes too, but with the price tag did not think it was all that great. NZ$2500 for Shimano 105.....(from memory) I made my Velobuild bike with full Ultegra/velosa 50mm carbon clinchers for just over NZ$2000 and that included the custom paint job I did on it. It's not all that hard to put a bike together from scratch, there are plenty of you-tube videos to show you how. Jump in and make it yourself, it gives you a real buzz to say "Hey, I made this!"

No, this frame is not UCI approved as far as I know, I've simply made my own water slide decals to make it look like it is.
I'm not sure that club racing warrants an official UCI approved bike, despite this frame being more than worthy!

Why not whole frame?, well mostly due to time and upcoming races. I used 400 wet N Dry to sand the fork back, and I guess it took about 2 or 3 hours. My current (Old Giant TCR) had naked carbon finish on the fork so I copied it. My time was limited to attempt the whole frame was just not going to work and when I put the Holographic Gold shimmer clear coat over the matt black it really popped :-)
The frame was sanded with 800 grit wet n Dry, clear coated with gold shimmer, mask and paint red detail, clear coat, 800 wet n dry to remove bumps, decals painted on, clear coat, 1200 wet n dry to remove bumps and final 2 pack clear coat. 2000 wet n dry and then polish.

Oh and to find out more, check out the youtube channel "Etoe" Martin Grey is a total crack up but his work is amazing!

Well I got my VeloBuild VB-R-068 Frame set a few weeks ago......today I went racing on it, it was bloody awesome!
I got the matt black 54cm frame (I'm 1.8m / 5'11") and the fit was great. I stripped the matt black back to raw carbon on the forks and left the frame. Wet saned the whole frame and did my own custom paint job (Courtesy of Martin Grey's Etoe Youtube channel) and the result was awesome. From AliExpress I got the saddle, wheelset (50mm x 25mm carbon rims) Ultegra Crankset and brakes, Carbon bars with integral stem, Bar tape, shifter cable set, BB109 Ceramic Bottom bracket and from NZ online off Facebook (Bikeshelf) second hand near new Ultegra shifters and derailleurs. After about 40 hours work doing the custom paint job I put this all together and came in at a very nice 7.7kg ready to race.

I did see a review that said it was not very exciting/responsive but I have to disagree....it was agile and a real rocket ship on the downhills...very stable at 61+ Kph. I did however have to make a 3mm washer for the headset to work properly and pack the outer ring of the top headset bearing with ptfe thread tape to give it a nice snug fit.

Chris@velobuild was awesome to deal with and replied same day to all emails I sent him, I cant recommend this frame and Velobuild website more highly. Very impressed overall.

Chris @ Velobuild has been great thus far, I also purchased some wheels from him too NSW 454 clinchers.

Id ideally like the Venge cockpit on it, anyone got any Chinese experience with the Venge stem and Aerofly 2 bars? Any links would be brilliant!
