After The Ride / Chinese carbon biases
« on: June 01, 2016, 06:20:06 PM »
I've been riding chinese unbranded carbon for 4 years now. A Axman frame 26er. And now a 256SL for a year and a 1/2. Besides the frame i have/had, seatposts, handlebar, water bottle cages, and assorted bits and pieces  ;D

I have zero complaints, you do really get every euro/dollar you pay back. Great value for money. Possibility to custom build, for me is absolutely a must, i really can't pay for a top end brand bike. And really can't pay big money and get mixes quality parts, like a sid fork and a deore crank or like a friend of mine that bought a merida "full xt"... only not, it had deore and slx  ;D.
Custom paint, OMG, how frikin sweet. Is it only me that hate the brands saving the best paint jobs for the top end bikes. Like only the most expensive can have the colour red lol
The money you save on the frame can be put to very good use.

The quality is amazing as long as you don't go to aliexpress and order by lowest price  ;D
If you buy from trusted sellers, you get a good product. It is not gonna fail on the 1st ride and leave you toothless   8)
The warranties (and i can personally attest for this) do work, and very well, better than most brands name bikes

Now came the shitty part. customs, bureaucracy and rampant stupidity.  :-\
Then there's the "haters gonna hate" comments and looks. I have stopped talking bikes on every ride just because of the plain stupidity and xenophobe Chinese speech. I really lost my calm with idiots because of that, sometimes enough is enough i guess. To ride a Chinese bike you gotta have a pretty tick skin.

I still love to ride out of the box, be different  ;D

How about you guys, your experiences?

Sales & Classifieds / 256SL Frame * with problem *
« on: April 18, 2016, 09:39:22 AM »
I'm selling my 256SL frame from Xmiplay. 15 months old. Purchased new, one owner. It has a problem on the wishbone as you can see by the photos below. There is an apparent crack all around the wishbone, in some places below the finishing and others above it. It is repairable as I'm told.

BB: BB30
Size: 17.5
Colour: Black matte no graphics
Price: sold to the best offer (realist offers off course)
Extras: protected with helicopter tape. Besides the obvious, only very little scratches from normal use, barely visible. Delivered with seatclamp and dropout from Xmiplay.
Location: Portugal, EU (no customs problem for people in EU)
Weight: 1kg

29er / My 256SL build
« on: January 04, 2015, 05:21:03 AM »
Hi guys, i had a Chinese 26 carbon frame and loved it, so i decided to go for a Chinese 29er. Put the bike for sale but no one grabbed it. So decided to only sell some parts, and keep some that i could use on the new bike, and in less than a month everything was sold.

Ordered the frame from Xmiplay, had loads of problems with local customs but a month later i go it. Just ordered the missing parts. So the complete picture is gonna be this:

9.2 Kgs or 20.28 pounds. Later i want to convert to 1*11 but for now this will do.

I'm gonna post pictures soon, weights (as all the red parts are not weighed by me as i don't have them yet). But i kind wanted some help because the idea was to assemble it myself, it's not like this is my first rodeo, but i never assembled one bike from zero.

Never messed with BB30 bottom brackets before, how difficult is it? anyone got a good DIY video?

Another question is from where to start? i never did this from zero and it might seem silly but i got some problems imagining what needs to come 1st and so one. Do i go for the BB 1st, then internal cables, then i need derailleurs, suspension, handlebar to know where to cut then,...

Also i got some lose tips. I guess the neco headset must go, the bottom door must be sealed in order not to enter the water and dirt, the brake line inside the frame but be involved in foam in order no to make noise. Anything else?

Have a nice 2015, lots of fun riding and hope to get some help and return with some low cost project descripton
