Component Deals & Selection / Cheap socks that have a large size (EU46)
« on: October 31, 2023, 01:27:34 AM »
Anyone know of cheap cycling socks that are relatively long aka halfway up my calf and available in larger sizes?
All the Aliexpress ones I've seen stop at EU45 which are too small and too tight when i've pulled the trigger on them.

Hello,

I'm looking for some direct mount brakes for my new chiner bike, it has the rear brake near the bottom bracket - https://www.lightcarbon.com/lightcarbon-new-integrated-caliper-brake-road-bike-frame_p131.html
I've been looking at the 105 & Ultegra offerings for this but the direct mount versions are very expensive.

Any suggestions for some cheap options? Keeping in mind the direct mount and rear brake at the bottom bracket stipulation.

Cheers!

Hello,

Just received my new frame in the mail today the lightcarbon LCR0X-V rim brakes.
The quality of it looks what I would call "dodgy" in areas but I'm unsure if any of it is cause for concern, interested in hearing your opinion.

You can see the fork where the lower bearing goes has a "flap", what should I do about this? I can't imagine it will be good for the bearing to rub against that constantly?

Hi folks,

I'm looking to purchase my first tubeless wheelset, rim brake, will be running 28c gp 5k's and looking to have them as shallow as possible shimano 11s.
I'll be riding them on my commute on sometimes unforgiving terrain.

Any suggestions?

Looking to pay under 500 usd, which rules out lightbicycle to the best of my knowledge.

Cheers!

TL;DR - my rear wheel worked itself out of the rear dropouts twice with two different wheelsets resulting in a broken CMC joint with a cast for 10~ weeks.

I made a comment roughly 9 months back where at the time after around 2000 km's on my vb068 the rear wheel had worked itself out of the rear dropouts, essentially resulting in some scratches, this happened on a sprint, "I had a rather unfortunate incident on my 068 a few days back, essentially my rear wheel came off from under me, as in I was riding along got out of the saddle and the rear wheel rolled out across the road and my shoulder cushioned the fall.
I had my bike serviced a few days beforehand, I'm guessing the junior mechanic didn't properly secure the wheel somehow.

Fortunately my shoulder took most of the damage however the rear dropouts i'm most concerned about now, I've attached some photos:

Is the dropouts meant to look like that, as in that shallow? The derailleur hangar seems to match up with the depth of the dropout.
If someone could confirm that it looks the same as theirs it would clear up my concerns that it is a user error not due to poor design."

Roughly a month later the same thing happened with a different wheelset, this time I wasn't so lucky and ended up breaking my CMC joint.

There's an inherent issue with the frame I have, my theory is that the dropouts are incredibly flexy where when power is put out it flexes causing the wheel to come loose.
Happy for others to look at the image I showed earlier (https://imgur.com/a/bg0dEvP) and provide their opinion.

I've since made a full recovery and currently riding a secondhand sl6 frame I've picked up on the cheap.

Thanks

Component Deals & Selection / ISM Saddle Knockoffs
« on: July 04, 2022, 11:09:56 AM »
Hi,

I'm looking at getting an ISM saddle but don't want to pay the outrageous price, anyone bought any off aliexpress or the like for a good price?
The closest I could find is https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004384847988.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.49853fb7ezDkPK&algo_pvid=713139d5-8c11-4754-99c4-70b562567358&algo_exp_id=713139d5-8c11-4754-99c4-70b562567358-55&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000028991664542%22%7D&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21AUD%21%2141.97%21%21%21%21%21%402101e9d216569504744326724ec6a3%2112000028991664542%21sea

Let me know if you've found any others or have any recommendations.

Cheers!

Hello,
I've just built up a velobuild r068 and I'm attempting to install my saddle on the bike.
I'm using the default rail clamps that came with the frame however even though it's tightened up as much as I can the saddle tilt is rotating.
Is there some part I'm missing? I thought it was because I was using a relatively old saddle but i put my new ec90 saddle and it's also rotating.
I've attached a video to assist, thanks.
