Hi guys!
I'm about to buy gravel wheels. Currently thinking of https://www.winspace.cc/product/lun-grapid-700-gravel-wheelset/ or https://www.9velo.com/products/gravel-gv-series?VariantsId=10032
They are in similar price range acceptable for me.
your insight or feedback from experience greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I used to own a pair with bladed pillar spokes and aluminum spoke nipples. Very decent set for only 3 years until spoke nipples broke one by one. Got the wheelset rebuild entirely. Also not a big fan of the pillar spokes, personally I would only go for Sapim spokes.
Not sure where you live, but have you considered handbuilt wheels?

I purchased these Elite Wheels for my Gravel build around 4 years ago. They have around 8K miles on them now. Zero issues! They have never had to be trued, and have not been babied. Probably 60% of the miles have been on Gravel roads and a lot of single track. Probably the best set of wheels I have ever purchase for under $400. Plus they will be on sale on their Black Friday deal in a few days.

I ordered my gravel wheels directly from OEM factory - yuanan. Contact person is Leon Hu. I asked for the custom build and I am very satisfied.
35mm deep, 25mm internal, pillar 1420, 36t ratchet hub - weight 1430g.
Nothing can't beat them at 500$ price point.

I've had good experiences working with Clannad. I purchased many of my MTB rims and pre-built wheels from this store.

I'm pretty happy with the 9Velo 45mm wheels I have, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the wider ones marketed for gravel.

Turning an endurance bike into a gravel bike with 35mm listed clearance on 700C.

Those look really nice. The weight is also great considering the size of the rims.

ACESPRINT Official Store

I found this store, their offers look like an interesting alternative to Elite Wheels, the reviews are good. they also did not erase the watermark of the manufacturer, here is the link https://www.crazycarbon.com/
The factory's website and the information about it looks reliable, they also offer a 2-year warranty and crash replacement with a 25% discount.

The speeder wheels was a quote from contacting Justin at Speeder. They don't list their prices on the site.

Hi all, I'm new here and thinking about getting my first carbon wheelset for my gravel bike. I'm trying to stick to a lower budget and good reliability (e.g. I'd like steel spokes rather than carbon), but also ease of tubeless setup. I saw that 9Velo GV wheels have a rim bed without holes, which seems like a great feature for tubeless.
Are any of the other brand people have discussed here offering hole-less rims, hopefully at a bit lower price? Or should I just go ahead with 9Velo GV 45 for ~800 EUR?
-
If reliability is the key criteria, get one of the OEMs like FarSports to build you up some wheels with Sapim CX-Ray spokes, Sapim nipples and DT Swiss 350 hubs, then pretty much any bike shop in the world has access to spares for you. I got my wheel specced like that from Farsports for $850 USD shipped to Australia (including no spoke holes). Tubeless set up was extremely easy (just put tyre on and pump up with track pump).

Well, value and weight are also important :)
I don't know much about hubs yet, but it seems DT Swiss are a bit overpriced compared to other brands like Novatec ?

Overpriced ... they should not be compared at all, different leagues ;) .

You can get a (much) lower price point than that from Peter, c.34mm wide rims, various depths, no holes in rim bed, pillar wing 20 spokes (better value & performance than sapim cx ray, apparently) with no-name "taiwan" hubs. Just ask him by email. I bought 4 such wheelsets from him.

Yes, I've emailed him already, and also got in touch with speerdercycling.com. I'm trying to understand the options a bit better before I order.
By the way, Peter appears to have only wavy rims in the wider widths I'm looking for. What's a good resource on the pros/cons of wavy rims?

Where could I learn more about the differences between the various hub brands and models? Especially now that many brands are allowed to make DT Swiss style star ratchets, it's hard to understand the tradeoffs I'd be making with cheaper hubs.
