26er & 27.5 (650b) / Monsuta x Snacks AM831 build
« on: September 19, 2021, 04:24:47 PM »
Here's my AM831 build. Going with 27.5 wheels since I want a more nimble bike.

If you're wondering, monsuta is the brand I've been putting on my bikes.

Not sure what "monster" to theme after . Hellcat, demon linx, or maybe kitsune. I was thinking of something fast and agile. I also like the cannondale ,rapha, palace collab bike and was thinking of doing some kind of sticker bomb with some stuff that I've drawn(hence the thread title). In any case there's still time to figure this out.

Part list

Frame :AM831 size S
Drivetrain: Shimano deore m6100
Cassette:sram nx 11-50
Crankset:Goldix shimano direct mount w/34t chainring
Brakes:Meroca mt420
Rotors: sram 203mm r
Chain:Goldix 12 speed oil slick
Stem: ztto 50mm oil slick
Handlebar: race face carbon bars 760mm
Wheels:mach1 trucky 30
Tires: maxxis minion dhf upfront and agressor rear tubless
Fork:sr suntour durolux 36
Shock: rockshox super deluxe select
Hardware :fox 8x30 up front and rockshox 8x23 (which I shaved down a bit ) in the back
Seatpost: KS exo-form 900i dropper 150mm
Saddle:wtb volt
Pedals:tanke tp-50 oil slick
Valve stem: botany 40mm valve stem oils slick
Frame protection- 3M scotchgard pro series

didnt use a reverse angle spacer or any taller crown race yet since the fork doesnt hit the downtube when i take the caps off the fork. dont think it will affect anything with them off. maybe dirt ingress but currently trying to design a low profile version of the caps to 3d print and install . also ordered a couple off of aliexpress hoping they will fit or i can modify them to not hit the frame

Got this framing coming to build an emtb for my dad

trying to get the parts together before the frame get here.

185*55mm trunnion mount rear shock

will a X-Fusion O2 Pro RLX work with this frame?  .
a buddy has one he took off a scott genius that he was willing to give me

there is also a FOX NUDE EVOL off a 2021 scott genius that i found at a good price if that will work too?

both have the same eye to eye length and stroke. im asking because i noticed that a fox float that came off a trek wouldnt fit because the width at the trunnion mount was about 14mm smaller and wasnt sure if it would be the same for the ones coming off the scott genius as i couldnt find the info online

thanks in advance for any help!

29er / recommendations for my first mtb frame
« on: January 10, 2021, 07:07:14 PM »
Hi! Im very new to mountain bikes and id like to build myself a full suspension bike.  Ive been doing a bit of research and i think a trail mountain bike is what im looking for. ive read they're a good bike for all type of mountain biking. hopefully thats correct, otherwise if anyone has a suggestion for a better type of frame im all ears. i know the trails my friends ride have it all. hills, descents , jumps and they were saying some have slower technical sections so this is what lead me to look for more of all arounder. ive seen some companies list the type of mtb frame they are but others just have the name. Im assuming you can tell the type of frame based on the geo but im still not sure how to tell one type over another.

then there also different types of suspension. is one better than the next for different types of trails? or are they just different design based on manufacturer? ive read that vpp frames have good anti squat so ive been looking into those .although my buddy said i can get a lockout on the forks and shock so i dont need to worry about anti squat in the suspension. are lockouts commonly used? i see more people talk about dialing in suspension rather than relying on a lockout .

if anyone has any suggestions on a frame that would be great. i know they say buy nice or buy twice but if there is a cheaper frame that i can build up to try out the sport that would be preferred. Thanks!
