Hi there,

I'm currently building up an FM-M009, however I'm unsure what adapter i need to run 180mm discs on the rear, can anyone help?

Cheers

All you need is the standard 180mm adapter. If you are using a shimano disc just buy a shimano 180mm adapter. https://www.jensonusa.com/Shimano-180mm-Is-Disc-Brake-Adaptor-51mm-IS-Mount-74mm-Rear-180mm-RTR?pt_source=googleads&pt_medium=cpc&pt_campaign=shopping_us&pt_keyword=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuarEsI7y2wIVgX1-Ch21HA9qEAQYASABEgKIuvD_BwE

29er / CS-496 HT Build [pics] 25.5lbs
« on: June 24, 2018, 08:32:03 PM »
I finally build my 2nd chiner hardtail after the 1st one got stolen. All said and done the bike is 25.5lbs with heavy wheels. I have some chiner carbon wheels but i'm waiting to use those on my FS build coming up soon.

Finished product:

First of all the package arrived like this so I was worried initially...

Putting it on the stand and checked for cracks, nothing, the frame looked great and felt great. The internal routing guides were SO helpful for this build. I really liked that:

Added the seat post and saddle to clamp to a safer spot.

Setup the tires tubeless on the wheelset + cassette and just dry fitting the boost fit:

Set up the front fork (120mm) with crown and headset. Then went onto the step and handlebar. Pressed the bottom bracket in and installed the cranks.  Installed the brake discs, and started fitting the calipers in place.

Planning on putting some 2.6's on this one for a more 29+ feeling but think im going to ride these old tires out first.

Shortened all the cables, made it look really nice and then took some pictures:

I think it was extra. Talk to Peter, no problems.

Thx

Did the CS-496 come with the headset from Peter? Or did you have to pay extra on the order?

Foam sleeve... there is an actual bike product, norattles and another but I cannot remember the name.

https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00K85ASYA/?coliid=I1QUYQ9S8X7AWY&colid=3511P7RWFNKOU&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Is it easy to perform maintenance and replace cables after inserting the foam into the tube?

I do agree that if you can find a decent "last year model" carbon frame from big names like Yeti, norco, Orbea, intense for a big discount you should do it. The problem is I am a medium, which is the most common, and usually they dont have any stock. Also you will be hard pressed to find a good discount. $1500 for a yeti asr is a good deal, $1200 for an intense spider is a good deal. But this isn't always the case, and those frames retail for 2000-3500 anyway. I would easily spend an additional 400-600 bucks for a frame that I can drive down the freeway to warranty... But you have to be lucky to find one.

I got in touch with Peter, he was on travel for something but he'll be back in the office tomorrow. I am sure he's way backlogged with emails. I ordered the CS-496 June 13th, but still don't have the tracking.

Are you looking for an XC style low travel or more All mountain oriented? I would say with that budget pick up some carbon wheels ~800, carbon frame ~800, all-new sram NX eagle ~375, decent fork ~500, decent shock ~250, okay brakes ~125, and then all the other knick knacks. That already totals to about ~$2850. To stay under budget you don't have to get the carbon wheelset, but its nice.

Brands to be looking at for frames: Hongfu bikes, workswell, ICAN, Dengfu, xmcarbonspeed.cn
Brands to be looking at for wheelset: lightbicycle, farsports, yoeleo

The main thing im struggling with in building 2 of these bikes, 1 HT and 1 FS, is the damn shipping time. Some people get them shipped in a few weeks. It's been 30+ days and I still haven't got a tracking number, so you know, its relative.

Farewell my dear M06 frame. Today while racing the frame just broke in half. There was no Crash. I was still able to finish the race but I won't be racing on it again.
It lasted 13 months however I didn't use during the winter. Not sure if I should buy a brand frame or replace this.
This is my third chiner I broke.
So far I broke an 036 rear triangle another 036 seat tube and now the top tube. None of them crashing.

Damn. If you don't mind me asking, how much do you weigh?
