Component Deals & Selection / Re: Budget (Aluminium) Wheelset?
« on: December 17, 2020, 05:53:02 PM »
No experience from my side with those kind of wheels. I wanted to get Koozers for my MTB, but they weren't available.  :(

I got some Ican Carbon wheels waiting for my new roadbike build, but on my current bike I have a Rose (big german bike parts distributor) branded rear wheel I got from a friend working in a bike shop. The wheel costed 50€, but it weights 1.2kg i think.

You're going with Rim brakes, right?
Then I'd check out the Koozer RS1400. They're below 1500g and can be found for around 120€ with shipping on Ali.

Edit: And if you want to spend a bit more, maybe these?

Thanks! Yeah, will do!
Dengfu was ordered directly from China with XDB, and I was lucky to get the OG-Evkin on 11.11 from Spain warehouse. But that was more like a pre-order, so the frames weren't in stock on 11.11.
My last status update was that it should be shipped on first december, but yeah, I still haven't got a tracking number.  ::)

I'm Andreas, 29, from Germany.
I bought myself a 2-speed SRAM Automatix "Singlespeed" 4 years or so ago, which unfortunately was stolen last year.
This spring I got a mid 90s Batavus Carbon Composite Roadbike in a swap deal, which brought me more into serious cycling. But the urge for an upgrade came up, and so I came across chinese carbon.
And now I'm building a Dengfu R12 Roadbike and an OG-Evkin CF-052 Hardtail.

Okay, then I'm a bit stupid and the instructions a bit misunderstandable  ;D

I got myself the cheaper FOVNO Ghost crankset. Looks very good for the price, except for some small optical flaws.

But I'm wondering how the supplied threaded BB is supposed to work in a pressfit frame?

I scored a set Roval wheels on Ebay, and even kept it in my 1000€ budget!  ;D

But yeah, I will definetely build a wheelset myself somewhen in the future when I try to drop the weight below 9.5kgs.

I contacted Dengfu via the contact form on their website, as I was unsure which frame size I should choose, and they told me that price.

Yeah, I also saw that review and was a bit worried about it, so I talked to 2 guys in a german forum, and they were both super happy with it.

As I said before, my bike is still not finished, but I definitely can't confirm points 2, 4 and 5 of that review.

I'll throw the Dengfu R12 in.

I'm waiting for my painter so I can start building mine.

Costs were:
Quote
R12 disc 52cm in UD matt finish: $550/set (include frame, fork, seatpost, HB015 integrated handlebar 420*90mm, spacer and headset)
Front and rear thru axle for R12 disc: $16
2 extra rear hangers for R12 disc: $14 ($7*2)

Shipping cost to Germany including tax prepaid is $130. 4.2% Paypal fee is $30, so the total cost is $740.

@carbonazza
Haha, yes! But I really want to keep the initial build below 1k€ - and in that budget is no space for some Carbon Wheels.
Plus I'm almost overwhelmed with the Carbon MTB wheel offer, choosing a set for my roadbike was a lot easier.

@adriaanm
Thanks, those are a good tip! I saw that BD is also selling Mavic Crossmax at the same pricepoint, which are even more interesting for a MTB.
I also found an used set Crossmax, unfortunately the seller doesn't want to ship.

On the other hand, these wannebe Mavics on AliExpress make me really curious  ;D ;D I wonder if they're a bargain or just junk. I've already contacted the seller, which confessed that they're heavier (1800g) than stated.

Hey guys!
I'm still on the hunt for a budget-friendly wheelset for my OG-EVKIN CF-052 build.

My requirements are:
- 29"
- >22mm inner width
- 100/142 Thru-Axles
- 6-Bolt Brakes
- 11spd HG Freehub
- <200€
(- <2000g)

I had some Koozer XF2046 on my mind, which look really good, the XM490 hub should be alright, but they're on the heavy and narrow side, and everywhere sold out.

Do you have any suggestions for me? Or should I just dig deeper in my pockets and get some Carbon wheels?
