Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
So I'm courious what Bike24.de will send me the next days ??? At least i was able to order a 165x42.5 remote one.
There's still one in stock, shipping to australia is 20 € ;)

Meanwhile, i think about color. Painted or black link? Black or blue fork?
Well, best option will be to have a painted link and if it looks wrong, i can still order an unpainted one. Blue vs. black fork can be determinded when the Frame is here... just order both and return one.
For the red tone, i sent Adam this picture as reference. We'll see how it turns out.
I vote for :
-black fork with black link or
-black fork with red stickers with red link

Trek factory racing runs with red frames and blue fork, i don't find this combo very elegant https://scontent-cdt1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/122226975_2132655636879040_8585127515686445313_o.jpg?_nc_cat=105&ccb=2&_nc_sid=8bfeb9&_nc_ohc=2zWc_70EB3AAX_pYPX5&_nc_ht=scontent-cdt1-1.xx&oh=624bf76554e1ff63014353abc02111fe&oe=5FDD1081

I highly prefer the full red combo made by dangerholm https://www.pinkbike.com/news/bike-check-dangerholms-insanely-light-scott-spark.html

Re: Good carbon xc rims I already bought my wheels in octobre... I got the email about their deal because I'm a client who bought wheels from them... Maybe you could also look at my post about a 29er hardtail I wanted to build! In that post I told that my bike was ready to ride a couple of weeks ago!

I posted about their promotion because there could be someone who was looking at their wheels and then he could get them a little bit cheaper...

Maybe you shouldn't just say that I "spam" on this forum, I only wanted to help! That's just really not nice of you!

Re: Welcome to Chinertown - Introduce Yourself! Hello all,

First post here - I'm Jeroen, currently living in Germany but originally from the Netherlands. I'm a roadbike kinda guy, but decided to build up a Chiner fully over the upcoming winter as a successor to my old, faithful Klein Palomino.
This will not be my first build, I already own a Lightcarbon LCR004D roadbike (+matching Yishun wheels) and I've been riding and repairing bikes for the last 20 years minimum.
Overall, I must say that I'm very happy with Lightcarbon until now - but let's wait for the next project.

Last weekend, my Lightcarbon LCFS911 arrived and I'm now searching the net for parts. My first question will be around the ofset/rake you guys used for building, but I'll post that in the LCFS911 thread.
After that, I'll be investing some time and money in the paint job for this bike, as I'm a sucker for the old Klein paint jobs. Of course, this doesn't make sense at all - period. But: that's cool with a naked carbon bike, you can make your own dream.

Stay healthy!

Re: Hulk Bike experience - 29" 33mm Asymmetric Wheelset A week or so ago I tore through the sidewall of the Maxxis Aspen tire on the SS. I took the wheel to my work today to clean it up before mounting the new tire. Here's a couple more pictures of the 12k twill weave. I've had a couple good rocky rides on the wheels so far with zero issues. Well, other than the tear in the sidewall that I could fit my thumb through.

Re: Lightcarbon LCFS937 Build Thanks Philipp.

I have had the bike for a couple of months now and ride 2-4 times a week. I love it, its fantastic and I am a better rider with this bike than with my "old" Merida One-Twenty 800. I climb better, i descend better, I fell more safe and take on challenges I did not before.

The "Akkebike" lettering is 343*40 mm.

The dropper post is a problem, I first tried a 170 mm but it was to long so now I have a 125 mm dropper with a total length of 420 mm and that works well.

https://www.bikester.se/red-cycling-products-remote-dropper-teleskop-sattelstutze-316-mm-M724376.html

I have built 3 "Akkebikes"  so now the whole family has one each. This is really fun so i am planning another build, the more Enduro-oriented LSFS 947.

Best regards

Stefan

My OG-Evkin CF-052 (FM699) build w/ 60% AliExpress parts Hey guys!
I want to show you my OG-Evkin CF-052.
Last year the idea of getting a MTB sparked up, living in an area with lots of nice woods. Checking the used bike market wasn't very satisfying, and neither were the <800€ new bike options. After seeing how cheap carbon hardtail frames are (especially compared to road bike frames) it was obvious to me that I had to build up a MTB myself.
My choice was the OG-Evkin CF-052 frame, because it's quite popular in the german forums.

The goal for the initial build was to keep it around 10kg and below 1000€. My excel spreadsheet came out at 10176g, but that was without the paint, pedals and some small stuff like the headset or cable outers.
Measured on my bathroom scales the bike weighs 10.8kg now, with some very basic pedals.
I also missed the financial goal. I had spend 997€ when I found out that the BB supplied with the crankset was BSA only, and not working with my BB92 frame. After a BB92 and some small parts I'm now at ~1015€.

Now to the specsheet

Frame: OG-Evkin CF-052 in size L + OG-Evkin QR-02 axle
Paint: Mini C15 Jungle Green with some extra gold pearls
BB: Threaded ZTTO BB92
Fork: Rockshox Reba RL A6 110mm w/ Rockshox Maxle (used from Ebay)
Wheelset: "Roval"? Non-Boost 2060g 21mm wide (used from Ebay)
Front tire: Continental CrossKing 2.3 RS
Rear tire: Continental Raceking 2.2 RS
Tubes: Schwalbe SV 19A Extralight
Stem: ZTTO 60mm 7°
Handlebar: ZTTO XM 720mm Aluminium
Grips: Procraft Diamond Pro
Crankset: Fovno Ghost 175mm 36T
Groupset: LTWOO AX12
Cassette: ZTTO 12speed 11-50
Chain: KMC X12
Seatpost: Elita One but it broke on the first ride (Picture), so I ordered a Toseek now, with a better seat clamp
Saddle: SSM Aspide Superleggara AliExpress clone, but that broke on the second ride, probably damaged when the seatpost broke (Picture
 2  3)
Pedals: Some very basic Marwi Union cage pedals (I ordered some En-Lee platform pedals)
Brakes: Shimano Deore BR-M6100
Brake discs: "Avid G3" 160mm from AliExpress
Bottle cages: 16g Carbon ones from AliExpress

Short term upgrades will be a new seat post and pedals, which I've already ordered. I also need a new saddle, but I'm pretty unsure which one to get.

And long term upgrades are:
- Carbon wheelset
- Going tubeless
- Fully integrated carbon handlebar
- And maybe a dropper post

1st Build: TanTan/Seraph GR029 with Sensah SRX Pro 1x11 Thank you for the admission to this board.
After positive experiences with Chinese carbon wheels, we decided to research the possible build of a Road/Gravel bike for my girlfriend. Chinertown gave some hints on what to look out for and which suppliers to choose for our project.
The goal was to build a bicycle mainly for the use on tarmac with some lighter gravel, therefore had to have clearance for wider tires.
Finally we decided on following components for our build:

Frame and Fork:
TanTan / Seraph: GR029 with 15mm Fork and BSA BB in size 52
We ordered the matching headset and thru axles directly with the frame to prevent any mismatch.

Groupset:
Sensah SRX Pro 1x11
Crank Zrace RX 172.5mm long with 44 chainring
Casette Zrace 11-46

Brakes:
Ordered seperately Zrace cable actuated hydraulic disc brakes for 160mm rotors.
The sets normally offered on Aliexpress only include adapters for 140mm discs which do not work for our terrain.  ;-)

Seatpost and saddle:
Ordered a separate carbon seat post 27.2mm and a saddle in "Specialized Mimic" style.

Wheels:
We still had a set of Alexrims with Schwalbe X-One 33mm tires laying around to be used.
The disc rotors are some standard Schimano.

Some additional parts such as brake and shift cabling were sourced locally.
The Fizik Cyrano bars in 420mm width and 110mm stem completed the build.

Additional remarks:
The frame was ordered mid of October and we requested a specific custom paint.
Communication with Seraph was excellent over Aliexpress. They sent us a CAD drawing with the custom paint for our confirmation after 24 hours, which is great service.
They let us know that the paint job would delay the shipment for about 20 days, which was about correct.
Due to the reduced air shipment choices caused by Covid-19, the shipment was rerouted and finally left china around the 9th of December 2020 and arrived in Europe end of December.
The quality of the frame and custom paint is very good. The only complaint is that the whole in the fork for the axles were not perfectly protected during painting so some colour entered, which I had to remove before assembly.

The assembly went pretty smooth without bigger issues. Inner cable routing always presents a challenge so you should have the right tools at hand.
Cable routing was done using a Zitto routing tool that is similar to the much more expensive Parktool counter part. For around 10US$, I can highly recommend it.  :-)

The Sensah groubset works well especially the shifting is very nice.
The break power needs to be checked once we had the chance of some extensive rides.
But make no mistake it is certainly not on the level of Shimano hydraulic disc brakes but we expect it to be OK for relaxed riding.

The total bike including Shimano SPD pedals is at 9.065kg which is not too bad considering the 33mm wide tires and quite heavy wheelset.
Going with some nice carbon wheels and tubules would certainly be a big improvement.  ;-)
The cost for the whole build was around 1000US$ including shipping, import taxes and additional parts.
Not super cheap but a real fun project with good result.  :-)

Some things still need to be fixed:
- For correct crankset mounting you need to use spacers adjusting the side to side play and preload of the BB. Unfortunately the shims in the set do not fit perfectly leaving about 0.5-0.8mm play. We will have to source a matching shim to correct this.
- There were only 4 instead of 5 screws speed to fix the chainring to the crank. It seems some mountain bike chainrings only use 4. We did order some additional parts to fix it.
- The cable routing for the rear break is not perfect on the first try so we have some slack and soft feeling when actuating the rear break. This should be easy to correct.

No riding experience yet due to the points to be fixed and cold and wet weather.
We will report our experiences at a later point in time.
