Title: All round racer
Post by: jj on October 05, 2023, 02:49:44 PM
Hey, new to the forum, been lurking for a while and planning to do a build. However, am a bit overwhelmed with all the alternatives out there.

I'm looking for an all-around bike with a racy geometry. Something similar to e.g.

I've looked at some of the frames from Yishun (R1058-D/R068-D), Lightcarbon (LCR0X-D), and Carbonda (CFR 1056). What do you recommend? Any other manufacturers I should be looking at?

I would consider the new LCR-017 from Lightcarbon.

The geometry of 017 is nowhere close to what OP is looking for

he is looking for an "allround bike"... or did you do a bike fitting with him? ;-)

Both Colnago and the Look bikes the OP showed as example have far less aggressive geometry than 017. That frame in general would be unrideable for people under 175cm or so because of its insane 390mm reach even with the lowest eize. Size 51 (equal to average M size frame) has shorter reach than 017 frame in size 49, which is equivalent to size XS  :)  :)

I have some questions about the sizing of the Light Carbon 017, but only at the smallest size. Their size 52 looks pretty comparable in terms of stack and reach to an SL8 or even a size 485 V4RS (387 effective reach after their proprietary stem / headset stuff). At 168cm and change I could make either work really well for me. My custom road bike has a 520mm effective stack and a 393mm effective reach paired with a 100mm stem. Small bikes just scale different.

Based on geometry charts and taking into account the other measurements on the bike like ETT,  HTA and fork offsets I would look at the following frames, some of which you have already looked into:

If you are looking to get the fit of a 54cm or larger Look 795 i think the Yishun 1058D and the Flybike 906-D are worth a look as well.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've looked at the LC-017 but agreed that the geometry is a bit weird. I'm 178cm and size M/510 for the Look and Colnago and the larger sizes for look a bit more reasonable so it could work.

The Speeder looks interesting, hadn't looked at them before. Seems like a reputable brand from what I can tell?

Will reach out to Yishun, Carbonda and Speeder
