Sales & Classifieds / BXT MTB 056 - $400 shipped
« on: June 19, 2022, 11:00:16 PM »
Like new BXT MTB 056.  Waiting 3 months to get it in but it's a little too big for my 5'3"-5'4" frame with the 29er wheels.  It's size small, supposely, but honestly it feels like my bud's medium bikes.  I'd say it's probably better for 5'5" to 5'8" folks.

I'd like to sell the frame by itself for $400 shipped to lower 48 states.  If you want buy the whole bike, I can sell that too.  Let me know if you're interested.  It's got a very nice light weight Rockshox Revelation which is $500+ when new and it's in very good shape.  The wheels are carbon with NOVATEC hubs.  $440 with several month wait on Aliexpress.  Lots of other good stuff on it like Maxxis tires.  I can do the whole bike for $1,600 shipped to lower 48 states.

As title says, do you guys get any crap from them? J/w :)

I'm getting pretty serious about picking up a HT, mostly for XC use.  The one in particular i'm closing in on is the BXT-MTB-056 because of the slackier HA compared to most.  It's 67 degrees.  Most out there are 68.5 or 69.5.

I'm just asking in general though as I don't care which one you have.  Just want a heat check on how durable these HT's have been.

Again, just want to see which one you have and how many miles have you put on it and/or how much abuse you think you've put on it? What are the highest jumps you've done to yours?

I don't plan to do too crazy of jumps but just want to know how they're holding up. At most, it'll probably be 3-4 feet drops.  Again, that's probably on the high end.  What kinda of feedback can you give me? thanks!

29er / Cheap hardtail...Spcycle SP-M05 vs Airwolf YFM026?
« on: January 10, 2022, 03:19:51 PM »
Which Small XC size 29er HT with 148mm boost?

Spycycle SP-M05 @ $430 shipped https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002982566507.html

vs

Airwolf YFM026 @ $329 shipped - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002862014337.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.35393c00Ary80c&mp=1

Both of them being the Violet/cobalt blue paint. Both are T1000 carbon and ~1000grams.  Anything you can tell me between the two as far as Geo or other considerations? other options you would recommend for under $500 shipped?

thanks!

I've got til today to return it back or not so I'm pondering it.  If I keep it, I will be doing JJJ's fix.

It's also a tad too large for me.  It's Heidei's "small" frame but their small frame is eqivalent to most other manufacturer's (i.e. Santa Cruz) size medium.  I need the actual small frame.

Just checking to see if you guys are actually enjoying the frame or is it just "meh, it's alright but nothing that special".

Thanks!

29+ & 27+ / Any modern geo mini-fatty frames out there?
« on: December 11, 2021, 06:43:37 PM »
Looking for a carbon frame that something that is similar to a Roscoe.  i.e. can handle up to 3.0" tires in the rear.  2.8" should be enough but 3.0" would be even better like the Roscoe.  Thx

Component Deals & Selection / Headset for AM831?
« on: November 14, 2021, 06:54:57 PM »
Hey guys, sorry for all these questions but I'm confused on what exactly I need to get for a headset.

I've tried reading https://canecreek.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-headsets/ and I get the gist of what it does but there are so many flippin choices on different sizes on headsets that I'm confused.

I ordered the AM831.  I have 2020 RockShox Lyrik Ultimate Fork with 160mm travel.  Which headset do I need?

cybersrce mentions "Cane Creek Helllbender 70 IS42/52".  Will getting that work for my case too? or will I need something else due to my fork? Sorry..this is my first bike build so lots of newbie questions. thx

From the AM831 posts, I see this:

8x22mm rear shock mounting hardware (linkage side, need to confirm exact measurement)

I have a basic Fox Performance Float DPS shock.  I'll be getting the m8x30 for the frame side.

Searching around via google, looks like there's a m8x22.2, m8x21.84, m8x21.54, m8x20, m8x19.

How do we know which one to order?

Hey guys,

I feel like this shouldn't be that hard! I'm still newb'ish at this bike building and this will be my first full build. Not finding any concrete answers on google searches.

Looking to see if I can fit a "Shimano XT FC-M8000" into a BB92 bottom bracket for a AM831.  Not seeing any 165mm options for this so this is a 170mm

https://www.backcountry.com/shimano-xt-fc-m8000-1x-crank-arms?CMP_SKU=SHI009A&MER=0406&skid=SHI009A-BK-S170MM

What am I able to do?

I'd love to use this 165mm Race Face one too if that's possible ==> https://www.amazon.com/RaceFace-Aeffect-Crank-165mm-24mm/dp/B07FP3S278

Do I need to buy this specific 24mm BB92 Bottom bracket to work with the Race Face 165mm crankset? ==> https://www.competitivecyclist.com/shimano-xt-bb-mt800-pa-bottom-bracket?skid=SHI008V-PREFIT-ONESIZ&CMP_SKU=SHI008V
thanks!

Hey guys,

Looking to order a set of cabon mtb wheels to match up with the AM831 frame that I just ordered.

I see there are sellers that sell similar to this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000576992801.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.368e3c00j19NYF&mp=1

Some questions:

1.) Are these wheels already setup with the spokes and all? or do I need to assemble spokes? Looking forward to simply add rotors/cassette/tires and attach to bike.

2.) Please help me figure out which hub to get.  I want a decent and good bang for the buck hub that is still lightweight.  Will be pairing it with this cassette - https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/4000701834172.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.3fe23c007oFKFu&mp=1
  - All I know is I need a boost hub for the AM831.

3.) Any reputable sellers that you guys prefer? The seller mentioned initially above seems iffy with their reviews.

thanks!

29er / AM831 competitors? Help knudge me over!
« on: November 06, 2021, 07:18:36 AM »
Hey guys,

I'm super close to pulling the trigger and want to confirm a couple things with you guys.  I've narrowed the frame picking down to the AM831 and want some last min suggestions or alternative suggestions that is a competitor to it.

(1) Are there other reliable trail frames out there that should be considered? i.e. 150mm +/- 10mm rear travel.  If yes, would you still pick the AM831 or that one?

(2) I have a RS Lyrik Ultimate fork that came off a 2020 Hightower so it should be a perfect match for the AM831.  Let me know if I'm off on that.  I also have a 2021 RS Super Deluxe Ultimate that came off a Megatower.  160mm travel, 230mmx57.5mm.  The connectors are 28.5mm for the body side and 19mm for the triangle side.  Any concerns there?

The 11/11/21 sale at Aliexpress is coming up :) Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything before pulling the trigger on the AM831.  Thx!

29er / Airwolf Endoru FS?
« on: November 02, 2021, 07:45:18 PM »
hey guys,

Looks like 11/11/21 will have lots of FS frames on Aliexpress for $550'ish shipped.  i.e. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002856494359.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.48953c00o9e3Ac&mp=1

Has anyone done one of these builds?

Looks like there are lots of options out there for around this price.  Lexon, BXT, Airwolf, etc...

I'm looking for a Trail to Enduro FS.  So not a shorter travel XC or a full blown DH FS.

Thoughts on options that is (1) $500-$800 shipped, (2) Trail or Endoru modern geo, (3) available in a small?

thanks!

29er / AM831 vs others???
« on: August 21, 2021, 01:50:23 PM »
Hi all,

I currently own a Roscoe 6, Farley with Bluto fork and Xtrada 7.  Looking for my first FS and I'm considering building one from scratch.  The AM831 group buy is very interesting and I'm considering it.

Can anyone give me a pros/cons of the AM831 vs others? i.e. vs FM936 or FM909 or other popular FS ones you guys mention alot?

I'm not a seasoned pro by any means.  Just started this spring TBH.  There's a single tracks trail within 15 mins of me with green/blue/red/black tracks and I'll be spending most of my time there.  I may go on some DH trails within a couple hours of me maybe once or twice a year.  Please recommend what would make sense for my needs.

Much thanks!
