Any suggestions on a decent quality / well fitting headset? or how to go about figuring out what will fit?

Cheers,

Mike

I had the same issue with the headset.  I had an extra spacer from another headset, that I installed above the wedge washer, below the top cap.  With that it tightened up properly, but leaves a space for dirt to get in under the rubber seal on the top cap.

I will live with this until it dies and replace with better quality then.

Hi,
..it was not just my opinion then!

Final weight: 9,5kg  I can still go down

notes:
The headset Iplay, it seems not work well: it moves. It takes a thickness in the upper part, which was not included in the package.

Crank: I custumed my XTR970 in single ring.
To improve the chain line, I removed the shims inner chainring side.
I think it is fine, but you will need later to buy a crank monoring native

those are light and those aren't even the full R1s(notice RX on caliper) - full R1s are at 180ish and R1 racing closer to 150
Looking forward to pictures of your build.

They are a mix: rx caliper and lever r1. They work fine, maybe too much! :)
I came from Hygia Usagi, but these are a different planet ..

Hi Vip,
The brakes are Formula, are very light and brake very well. Here in Italy are widely used.
I'll put the link: http://www.formula-italy.com  :o

ah ok,
but I'm not sure I can ride a 36 front and 36 rear.
If I put a smaller ring of 36 front, then I would have difficulty in plain ..
I try to look at the solution of Sitar then ..
Thank you

Hi,
thanks for answers.
Unfortunately, the single ring XX1 is too expensive for my pocket.
For now I leave the double ring 36-24 XTR FC-M970, so I can recycle my old transmission.
By purchasing an old e-type and removing the anchor to the bottom bracket I thought to solve, if the holes in frame are as e-type2.
Thanks anyway
regards

Hi,
brmeyer135 thanks for the reply.
I use double chainring: front 36-24 et 11-36 rear.
Switch to mono-ring do not see it very well: we have risen extreme races ..
Do you know if the old e-type mount on this frame by removing the plate bracket?
like this:

the holes in the frame are the same distance like e-type-2 or e-type?
Thank you

Hi,
I finally ordered IP256, I hope it's a good deal for my cross country races.  ???
I have a question: Which derailleur e-type-2 buy one of these?
http://cuturl.net/46735
Those on 10speed, also work with 9speed shifters?
I can not spend much so I have to recycle the 9 speed transmission.
Say that I can ride okay?
Thanks for the tips
jackk

Hi mtb2223,
Thanks for the reply ..
I was thinking there for IP057: the front derailleur pulls the cable from the bottom?
I would solve a lot of problems because I already have this ..

I hope google has translated well ..

Hello guys,  :)
I am new to the forum and I'm a xc race man.
I'm buying the pieces to fit a new frame IP256.
I do not have much money. I recycle to save my Shimano 9-speed transmission.
At the rear, I would like to mount a 11-36 9-speed cassette and 9 speed Shimano transmission.
I know that the front derailleur mounts directly onto the frame. I recommended some derailleur compattibile?
I come from a 26-inch. I used to be a front derailleur road bike with only 70 grams fitted with collar (soldering type). Do you think you could also mount on IP256?
Any suggestions or criticism is welcome ..
Thanks in advance
regards
Jackk

ps: sorry for my english, google translate helps me, I hope it is understandable ..  :-[
