I have had a Sigeyi Axo PM for last 3yrs, they are very good. It just works, the phone app is a bit crap though.

Hahah I have just seen this and thought yeah Trace is probably on here quite often.

You have you answer about comments at least, straight from the horses mouth.

I read this thread in one go and it really makes me sad how some users "attack" the OP.

He had a bad experience and he wanted to make other people aware of something shady going on. He has proof of it. This takes a lot of effort/ mental energy and we should thank him for the courage. It´s even more remarkable to stand up for it multiple times. There is nothing to personally gain for him. If everybody in the world would act with this integrity there would be much less fraud.

What is wrong with your morals? People (Influencer) who pretend to be honest but are proven to be dishonest have to be blamed. Period. Good behavior does not legitimate bad behavior. What happens on TraceVelo youtube channel is called censorship. It happens onedirectional in favour of a presented brand. It makes me sick to see how people got blinded by capitalism and call it childish behavior if someone stands up for the right thing. It´s not "the internet" and it´s not "aliexpress". It is always people who act behind it. And they must be called by their bullshit.

After all, aren´t you here because you´ve been pushed away from the mainstream bike industry with bought reviews and poor magazine articles?
The same is happening now with many influencers. Wake up.

During the years I have followed many people on instagram and youtubers growing their presence. Some from 100 followers to 100K. Building a business. And when they make the move and quit their day job and start living the dream many throw their morals overboard. Changing the opinion like the flag in the wind.

Of course one can do whatever he wants on his channel as long as it is legal and compliant to platform policies. Still it is consumer deception if someone markets products and does not disclose the affiliation.

I watched almost every TraceVelo youtube video and I really liked his stuff. I always was astonished by his cost rundowns and tried to reproduce his cost. Never got close to it. Never saw any real negative comments on the videos. I was skeptical but just left it that way.

Huge disappointment.

I actually bought some Siroko bibshorts based on "his glowing reviews". Unfortunately they were absolute dogshit because the cuff around the thigh was baggy like a pair of Hawaiian shorts. I posted a critical comment on one of his videos saying the shorts arent that great......i just checked back to see if the comment is there and no it isn't !

I like Luke and often have conversed with him on youtube and I dont think he is a dishonest guy. Obviously he/someone feels that in the interests of the companies who pay the bills they should be protected. It is what it is.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Velobuild VB-R-218
« on: January 25, 2023, 06:47:27 AM »
Heyo guys,
long time no see.

I have been riding my vb-218 since last september pretty much exclusively.
I just got home from a ride yesterday and today I wanted to hop on and take it for a spin, but I observed the following: see the pic.

there is a small crack in the carbon near the lower seatpost screw. I have not changed my saddleheight in quite a while and tightened it with 3-4nm only. So im guessing the frame is gone then?

I rode in around 0 degrees c in winter and my bike made some weird noises in those very cold temps. But i thaught that was the saddle rails or something like that.

How did you repair yours sebastian? And would you mind giving me a crashcourse in your trades :D? Also you think this is a warranty claim worthy case?

I was wondering if that is just a crack in the clear coat? if all warranty options etc fail you may as well sand that little area and see if the carbon is compromised. If it isn't just cover the sanded area in nail varnish to seal.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
« on: January 11, 2023, 02:56:06 PM »
Ordered and got the tracking number a couple days ago. UPS still hasn't picked up the frame though (hopefully they pick it up tomorrow China time).

Went with the matte metallic navy blue like some others in this thread, going to build it up with a Force ETAP group and some Elite Wheels.

Any handy tools to buy other than the usual stuff? I just got a pressfit bb tool, and an offbrand bleed kit. I have all the allen keys/torque wrenches/grease/etc you could ever need.

One of the park tool (or other cheaper brands) internal cable routing kit will probably save some headaches.

I would just give the area a light sand, then a few protective coats of clear nail varnish to seal it. Then never think about it again.

I look forward to hearing you say "Rinasclta" on the youtube video. I've tried a few times to say it myself and my tongue is now tied in knots!

Jokes aside, this looks like potentially the perfect one frame, two wheelsets sort of bike! What holds me back is how much punishment can an "all road" carbon frameset take on the more gnarly stuff?

Cant wait to see what you think Pat.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Consensus on replica frames ??
« on: December 19, 2022, 10:57:53 AM »
Stumbled across a Fasterway "O2" frameset on ebay (2nd hand) and was curious what the consensus these days was on replicas. Has anyone any info on Fasterway?

Im curious as to what these frames are, are they knockoffs or do these guys actually make the frames for the legit company's.

Obviously usual chinarello caveats apply.

I was just wondering if anyone had information or experience with the Seraph Tan Tan fm619. I've seen this beautifully painted frame on ali express, I just haven't been able to find any builds or reviews whilst Googling.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: VB-R-168 & FSA SMR stem
« on: December 08, 2022, 12:30:50 PM »
The FSA SMR (assuming you mean ACR/SMR) system uses a similar, but different top/headset cover and c-clip design than the supplied hardware from VeloBuild.

If you choose to use FSA's ACR system you will need the following:

1. ACR Top Cover / NO. 55R 1.5" ACR STD headset system.
2. An FSA ACR stem or ACR integrated 1-piece cockpit.
3. Any ACR spacers if the headset system does not include them.
4. Most likely a thinner upper headset for the headtube opening, because the ACR system in general leaves quite a bit of "gap" between the new top cover and the headtube. The supplied ACR c-clip is pretty thickkkk.

A few folks in here have been able been to use a hybrid mix of both Velobuild and ACR headset hardware. Just depends how deep down the rabbit hole you wanna go. The stuff listed about will at least get you where you need to be.

Invaluable information, thanks Pat.

That looks very much like my old ribble r872 aka ribble stealth aka whatever the De Rosa version was called.

Edit. Though thus boyd has some integrated seatpost ?

In other news, the 168 makes an appearance on GCN during the bike vault segment.

https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxPP9UE-5DOvxTgI_OMKjzXAUz5oYpxIAG

Looks like just shy of the vault based on technicalities.

I propose we flood GCN with Velobike bike vault submissions.  Heck, let’s flood GCN with vault submissions for all our Chiner bikes!

They look so conflicted.

ah sweet, i see this is the same frameset as the spcycle one i have seen on aliexpress
