Re: FSA ACR Headset - ACR Top Cover Required?
Can you update on this, I'm curious!

Yeah, it works, no problems! I fit the bearings and the lock ring, used the FSA compression plug, and tightened it all.down with the TanTan headset cover and handlebar spacers with no issues. I had to use some micro spacers with the lock ring, but that's not an FSA fitment issue.

Re: Zrace RX - Does it play well with Shimano derailleurs? Haha, I love Youtubers. Great stuff and super informative.

FWIW, I ended up going with a Quarq Dfour DUB. Had to fork over some funds for a DUB crankset, and ended up keeping my Shimano chainrings, but In The Know Cycling has a code that saved 10%, free shipping from a local vendor, and a delivery time that had the set-up installed and working on my bike 3 days after I ordered it. No installation, fitment, or functioning issues. Would have loved to go with a more budget friendly option, but considering everything, I think it was a wash.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Oh okay so it was more vertical play rather than lateral play? It wouldnt be good to be wanting to turn and the wheel doesn't turn lol. What i meant by unheard of is out of how many frames bought (or so youve seen) has this problem been encountered

No, it was lateral play caused by the headset top cover not pressing down on the compression ring properly. From what I can tell from reading posts, I'm not the only one who was having the issue with the X21 for sure. From what I can tell, there might be an issue with the way the integrated headset is designed for the frame. Without the microspacers, the top cover would rub against the frame before putting enough pressure on the compression ring. Other than that, I haven't had any real issues with the frame. Seems like a solid design.

Found this online, not sure of its veracity.

I'd switch to a Di2 system for the shifting performance, but not just for weight savings.

Re: various questions about custom build vs brand road bike (cost, issues, warranty) This is what I had.

https://wheelsmfg.com/bb86-92-outboard-abec-3-bb-for-24mm-shimano-cranks-black.html

I think a fresh reinstall would have taken care of the creaking.  That's what I did when I switched to these.

https://wheelsmfg.com/bb86-to-29mm-dub-compatible-kit-for-pressfit-86-92-bottom-bracket-with-flanged-dual-row-black-oxide-sealed-bearings.html

Haven't had any new creaking since I installed these  back at the beginning of March. A good cleaning, new coat of grease, took my time.

Hope that helps.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame I'm not sure why it would loosen either. I do my own weekly maintenance so I probably remove my rear wheel more than a lot. Never had any problems with that piece. I did lose the little screw that keeps the through axle piece on the front fork though. My guess would be road vibration. I check the front piece all the time now, guess I'll add the rear derailleur mount to my weekly checks.

Re: What left side crank power meter for Sensah empire 2x11 with Zrace cranks?
Question for all,

my ltk-268 frame from longteng requires a bb86 bottom bracket.

I purchased a cheap bb86 from sigiyi/zrace with my crankset.

Is it worth paying 30-50$ to upgrade to a Shimano BB86 Bottom Bracket or something similar?

like this : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32854261988.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.4a44240d42JNmt&algo_pvid=4535202d-97f2-4eba-915e-fca837c24ed6&algo_exp_id=4535202d-97f2-4eba-915e-fca837c24ed6-0&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2210000013315405293%22%7D

BB72-41 or RS500-PB

Just a head's up, I believe that Zrace spindle requires a DUB 29mm bearing set for the bottom bracket, so a straight swap with a Shimano bottom bracket with a 24mm bearing won't work. I'm not sure how many Chinese options there are for a DUB in the same spec, but other options are extremely limited and pretty pricey.

Is any BB upgrade worth it? Depends on what you are hoping to achieve. From what I understand, for press fit bottom brackets, creaking would bet he biggest issue.

Re: What's your go to bottom bracket? Wheels MFG.

I used a thread together BB86 for my Shimano crankset, then switched to their PF when I switched to a DUB crankset. Yeah, I'm enjoying the comparatively mild So Cal weather and mostly glass smooth roads, but I did take the bike back East for a couple of weeks. Rode a couple hundred miles through some torrential downpours, mud, grit, terrible roads, but the PF held up nicely. Still going with the original bearings.

Re: TanTan TT-X21 v Giant Propel Advanced Pro Disc To be sure, I can't speak for "Traditional brands v Open Mould". I can only speak for "my TT-X21 v my Giant Propel Advanced Pro Disc Frameset that I built from my mainstream components taken from my TT-X21".

If I had "make it or break it" complaints against the TT-X21, it would be the "comparably" harsh ride at speed and the effort it takes to maintain speed, now that I've ridden the Propel under the same circumstances. At that, if I weren't the type of rider who needed to go hard over shorter rides most of the time, I'd go back to my previous set-up - 28mm tubeless on Light Bicycle AR 46s, lower the pressure even more, throw some spacers back under my stem, and enjoy the ride on the TT-X21. To go even further, if I were to consider another frame, an endurance or even a lighter all arounder, I'd look at an open mould frame first, no doubt. The VB-r168 was at the top of my list for that.

Honestly, for me right now, looking to get as much speed as I can out of an Aero road bike, I'm content with my new purchase. That's about as niche as you can get and, certainly, the cost/benefit just might not be there for most other people, especially here on this forum I imagine. At the same time, though, I'm not kidding myself either. The price difference isn't there simply because "Giant" is written on the frame.
