You mean the seat clamp on the seat tube, or the part that attaches the saddle to the seatpost ?
The first is rarely provided with the frame and you have to purchase it separately.

Aren't these washer slightly spherical and grainy?
So they can be tightened with a non perpendicular angle to easily align and keep them in place.

You only need both washers on the brakes so the rear of the brake pads/shoes clears the fork blades-if one is enough, remove the other one.

No issues with this lightly padded carbon rail saddle so far after over a year of use.

These Bont copy shoes have been pretty good so far-weight is about 250 grams each in 42.5 including insole, the thermomolding seems to actually work, but the uppers could use some work; ventilation is so so while simultaneous soaking through very quickly in the rain.  They do dry fairly quickly when they get wet.

yeah not a huge fane of the name

Sort of reminds me of the Monster Hunter International books-orcs are noble warrior heavy metal fans, elves live in a trailer park on the dole.

Build your own, albeit for slightly more?

I'm going to try putting the BB cups in a freezer before my next install-with access to dry ice, you could "cryofit" even further.

Still riding it and no issues-upgraded the wheels to Hunt aka Kinlin XR31 w/Conti GP5000 28c tires (still fit), added a Kalloy Uno stem, carbon handlebar, knockoff carbon Arundel mandible cages, carbon railed Ali Express saddle, and a full Ultegra Di2 groupset-now at about 7.3kg.

Seller still looks to be in business and frame is still in their catalog, but no longer offering gloss finish-just matte black or matte gray.

The prices are similar to what you see in Europe. Most European shops won't ship to the US but a few will: BikeInn and Lordgun will in my experience. I got a legit XT 8100 group set from BikeInn in about the same ballpark so it seems plausible and the reviews look good.

Merlin in the UK still ships OEM Shimano to the US as well-ordered a full Ultegra Di2 groupset from them last month on Wednesday, received Monday morning with UPS and so far no invoice for customs duties.

I've always wondered if a strong magnet (such as one from an obsolete hard drive) would help activate lights on an induction loop-maybe the magnetic chainring helps with this as well.

US is duty free if less than $800 per shipment going to private individuals.

29er / Re: Should I get the 057 or 256??

Regardless if you chose IP-057 or IP-256, or even some other model, I highly recommend the following options when people order their frame:

Bottom bracket -->  My recommendation is to choose BSA if possible.
BSA has proven reliability, large bearing surfaces, works with most all crank options, no press tools required, far fewer instances of creaking or bearing problems.

UD/3K/12k carbon weave --> UD is said to be the lightest but is very plain looking (no weave), 3k is the typical, classic, tight carbon weave pattern and is what I like, 12k is a wide weave.  See picture below:

Matte/Glossy Finish:  This is personal preference, both look great.

Don't forget, many of the Chinese vendors will also paint your frame a custom color/pattern for around $75 extra.  Rather than getting a plain black frame, consider a custom paint job, they have some great colors available.

Two questions:

1.) My mechanic friend tells me PF30 is the better BB style to use.  Is it generally passed over by most due to needing press tools to install the cups/bearings?

2.) Are all of these bikes built with a UD base weave, then the top most layer is customized for the look of certain weaves?  I heard that UD was the strongest of the weaves, and thats why most new CF bikes are UD?

BSA is also easier to live with if you have internal cable routing and need to install new ones.

Yes thanks thats the first one that pops up in Google.

The shop is in the states. I'm looking to go direct through China/Taiwan/HK vendor. The "Bikehubstore" sells these at 150$ while they should go for around 50-70$ on AliExpress.

I've heard that in some cases Ali resellers will install questionable mainland Chinese bearings instead of better Japanese and Euro bearings.

Finally arrived on the weekend-same geometry chart as Velobuild's R066 and definitely inspired by the Canyon Ultimate frameset if not a 1:1 copy.

Seller communication was great.  Not clear from their Ali listing, but a headset was included, as was an extra derailleur hanger.

Paint quality and tube insides look good-BB86 dims are within a few hundredths on my digital calipers.  Tire clearance is enormous; Conti GP in 25c on a 17mm inner rim had plenty of space and it definitely looks like a 28 would fit if it clears the rim brakes.

In size L, frame weight worked out to 1135 grams (seller shows two figures in their listing-one for 1068 +/- 40 g, and one for 828 +/- 50g), uncut fork 350, uncut seatpost 165.

Given the frame weight, I'm hoping for tank like durability; still down almost 600 grams from a 2006 Ridley alu/carbon stay frame set.

Pictures to follow. ;D
