Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
I did torque them to 5Nm, but did not use any carbon paste on the clamp. I must say that during the first ride I had to change the seat angle and did this by loosening the front bolt and tightening the rear by the same amount of turns... Maybe this was not ideal...
Care to share what your favourite saddles are?

I have the saddle you broke. I prefer long nose style saddles, since I can shift position from low-n-tucked for flat speed or scoot up on the nose when I want to spin high cadence up a hill. Looking at your saddle clamp, I'm wondering if that might have caused the breakage? I'm weary of that design, mainly because it seems to apply more direct force into a concentrated section of the carbon rails.

I think this style of seat post clamp is the best for oval carbon rails. It spreads out the clamping force across a larger section, plus these type of clamps don't slip with a little bit of carbon paste.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Little warning about this lightweight carbon saddle I bought... Rail snapped on the first ride. I am 64kg and it was a ride on asphalt, so nothing too rough....
the big problem with the cheap 'no brand' saddles is that quality control is nonexistent, and so there's no consistency..
I've had one similar to this, rode 1yr+ and all good, know a bunch of people who had the same experience, but also of some cases of breaking in 1st use (like yours) or after some months
in the end it's just a gamble

Re: building wheel with straight pull hub: d411/412 spoke hole offset?
Since it is hard to find much info on spoke sizing for these hubs I thought I would pen down my experiences here:

I have built 2 wheelsets with these hubs. For the first one (I did last year) I calculated the length myself and the spokes where much too long. I checked with the seller on Ali where I had bought the rims (since they also offered entire wheelsets with those hubs and rims) and they gave me the spoke lengths and they were about 2 mm shorter I believe... Those worked...

A few days ago I have built the second wheelset with slightly deeper rims and spend hours researching and measuring and calculating. I measured the drawings of the hubs in autocad to get the dimensions and I found that the flange distance that is stated in the info I found is mostly way too big. I measured the flange distance from the inner row of spoke holes to the center. The flange distance is way smaller than. Working with these measurements I ordered the spokes with a little fear in my heart, but they seem to be spot on.

For my 581 ERD sized asymmetric 30x30mm rims with 2,8mm offset (3mm larger than stated to account for the nipple head. I measured this myself with 2 spokes and the spoke threaded in the nipple flush with the slot in the head) I used 288mm spokes for the front and 286 and 288mm spokes for the rear.

I agree!
The values for flange to center of hub are somehow very weird to large and dangling around in the www.

for the front D411 hub i also checked the drawing and I got:
(WL = Center of left flange to center of hub, and WR : Center  of right flange to center of hub)
WL : 23,1  WR : 29,7

THe D412 takes me (after hours of graphical comparison, since there are dimensions missing in the drawings)

WL: 31,2 WR 17,5

When I put these values in the Spokomat and the Spoke offsets 0,5mm for D411 and 1,25 for D412 I end up in the length values , that has been recommended to me from lightbicycle for two sets of wheels (AR36 and AR28)
I have the 24H hubs, so the lacing is 2 cross. With the flange values , that are dangling around in www my spoke calculation gets way to long values.. hope this information can help others.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Noticing that quite a few things on Aliexpress had their prices reduced like that Zniino gravel handlebar. From my wishlist, cues groupset has dropped by 7 bucks, a saddle by 2, and small bits like olives, barbs, screws are all down marginally.

Re: Scott Foil replica I mean how likely is it that they would produce Syncros branded bottle cage bolts for a fake frame? Can’t be sure. But I think the photos are showing the real thing.

Re: Terrible customer service by Carbonda I think you're just entitled sorry. I had 44 emails with Adam and he would usually reply in 1-2 business days, but busy months happen.
When I saw the title I expected bad faith warranty rejects or rude emails. I've had misunderstandings and I had to double e-mail because he forgot, but overall Adam is very understanding, patient and polite and I suggest you do the same. If you buy from china you must be ready for these conditions.
If you want overnight shipping there's amazon. You'll survive.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! 4 TPU tubes + patch kit for less than $13 USD:

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805240823049.html

I haven't tried this brand yet, though I feel RideNow TPU tubes are fairly mature now with most of the kinks ironed out. With the price of TPU tubes dropping, I really have no desire to go tubeless on my road bike (though I run tubeless on my gravel bike).

Re: Consensus on replica frames ?? My 5 cents. Aero road bikes now look very similar, with maybe Trekk as an exception. Look at Spec, Cannondale, Scott, BMC, their aero all rounder road bikes look alike.
Henceforth, I'd say buy a velobuild type frame, like the 177. It's heavily inspired by current trends, but it doesnt parade as a knock off. It's illegal in most places afaik to buy fake goods, but you can't be blamed for buying proven engineering. Customize your frame however you want, but don't slap a Specialized logo on it.
I wouldn't buy a frame that is marketed as fake specialized or a fake pinarello, because it's illegal, and maybe more importantly, you shouldn't trust thieves & crooks, so why risk your life riding something crooked people sold you?
I also believe it is very clear that the fake frames are NOT the same as the real deal, they dont just happen to be extra units, all else equal, from the same production line. While that might happen sometimes, most of the time it's going to be different QC, materials, moulds, factories, and so on.

Re: Yoeleo R12 & SAT C50 PRO Wheels - Revamped and Refreshed Just to add one more data point to this conversation; I got my R12 at the end of last year and it's been a flurry of issues with it since then:
  • They didn't include a cable stop for mechanical front derailleurs, which they later shipped and delayed my build
  • The handlebar/stem was failing to secure properly to the steerer tube which caused it to loosen up while riding (Scary sh*t!). I've built quite a few bikes and I was pretty confident that this wasn't human error, I later took it to a shop and they confirmed it. It was a long back and forth with Yoeleo's customer support that took months! They kept sending small parts for me to try out like the compression plug, steerer tube adapter, and stem bolts which didn't fully fixed the issue, the handlebar still loosened up but not as frequently.
  • Since they were dragging their feet and refusing to replace the handlebar I had to take the loss and bought a handlebar from a different brand. I still had to buy an ST1 stem from them (which they offered at a slight discount   ::)) because the integrated cabling system doesn't play nicely with anything else
  • The bike works fine now which proves my point that there was an issue with that particular handlebar/stem. They still refuse to accept that.
  • I also discovered that the clamp that holds the saddle together was wearing out internally; The notches that help keep the saddle from rotating had all but disappeared. I asked them to send a replacement along with the other small parts they they were sending and they told me they would but they never did. When I confronted them about it, they blatantly lied and told me that they did ship it. At this point, I just gave up...

What a massive waste of time and money! I'm so profoundly disappointed because I had previously bought a couple of wheelsets from them and they are really good.
