Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! 24AN80 code works in checkout now if you didn't claim it. Atleast for me it did. Good luck hunting!

Re: WheelTop EDS TX Full Wireless Groupset (Chinese SRAM)
I dont buy my bikes on aliexpress and i've had several warranty issues / goodwill instances when my counterparts did the right thing. I've had 2 or 3 warranty / crash claims with Farsports, i've had velobuild send me their updated C rings free of charge, i've received wheels that were centerlock after ordering 6 bolt and received adaptors free of charge. I've had a derailleur replaced free of charge & received a bunch of freebies.

Long story short, there's more to dealing with chinese counterparts than aliexpress & assuming no warranty coverage. I'm the highest tier on aliexpress and usually (not always) they are helpful. I had a bad experience with Alibaba, they clearly gave no F about me, that was disappointing, but i'm not going to cry about it, after all they were sticking to their T&Cs.
In fact 2 weeks ago i ordered via aliexpress a replacement crank arm for cheap. I shouldn't have paid for it, but this seller is a dick and i'll do my best not to work with them again. Either way it should save my ass for cheap enough.

I guess my point is: build relationships with sellers you learn to trust. It's so much easier than it used to be to have clear discussions with them. Either they speak decent english now, or they use translation software that actually works. It used to be an uphill battle to make yourself understood. Now i feel i can ask very detailed questions and i usually get spot on answers.

Last: the vast majority of people still assume that if it's unbranded and chinese, it's poor quality. I have friends who to this day will not use an unbranded chinese bike out of fear of death. Sadly (?), some of them are actually highly educated people with engineering degrees placing them in the 0.01% of the population. Others are just Luddites. Which ties back to Factfulness, in fact.
Most of this forum exists to navigate issues around oval holes, unfaced brake mount surfaces, out of tolerance interfaces, and structural integrity of parts. Together, usually referred to as QC. Aka, quality... Aka, who to order from to minimize the chances of ordering a dud.
You're still kind of missing my point. Most people don't want to do all this research and build relationships with online vendors and all that. They just want to see and touch a bike, buy it and ride it. So if you want people to get more familiar and comfortable with Chinese brands, Chinese brands have to sell the same way as the big boys.

Personally I am not bothered if someone who knows nothing about Chinese brands thinks they are low quality death traps. It's not my job to educate strangers. I build bikes for myself, not to impress and educate random people.

Re: Chinese cycling clothes so I ordered a YKYWBIKE 3/4 bib during the Anniversary sale and it just arrived yesterday.

The quality is so good, especially the Elastic Interface chamois.

One thing I noticed though is that I possibly derped when I ordered it, not knowing it was for women ;D

But hey, it still fits great!

Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame
There is no standardization in testing here. He compares bike ABC with different groupsets, bars, and wheels (incl tyres type, size, wheel depth, spoke type) plus a whole bunch of variables with what looks to be minimal testing time (first impressions). Unless someone sets up bikes with exactly the same components and A/B tests them back to back in set conditions, then isolating and commenting on the frame's "performance" would be mighty difficult.

Correct. First impression video and then long-term video per usual. Even if I were to conduct standardized test, I would get called out for doing "bro science" as other YouTuber's have. Thankfully the support of this very forum over the years is what allows me to continue and make content. I'm very grateful.

Re: GCN just reviewed Sava i hope that thing doesn't take off (metaphorically). this should remain nothing but a concept bike imo
integrated handlebars is one thing, STI is another, but a whole proprietary fork+handlebars combo? we need to go back. maybe not to downtube friction shifters but what's next? onepiece frame and seatpost? oh wait. shifters welded to handlebars from the factory, claiming a 40% stiffness improvement? this whole thing is ridiculous, convenience and fit be damned. it's probably not even faster

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D)
Hello Community
Here is my finished build of the LCR017-D

Please consider using different logos, it's pretty cringe (and illegal in lots of jurisdictions) to ride fakes. My bike looks like a Factor and i made Tractor decals, it's my way of trolling Factor. But putting Factor logos would just be cringe.
Light carbon makes good frames, there's no shame in riding one, but it doesn't make it a cannondale.
Nice build though, let us know how it rides & holds up over time!

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Wait so you had TWO failures with the er9 groupset and you still went ahead and got five? Or am I not reading this correctly.

"Happy as long as it's not broken" is not good enough, any failure during a 100+km ride is something that will ruin your day, and something that very rarely happens with groupsets from the big three.

i bought 5 groups at the same time. i had 4 bikes to build and i bought a spare one in case one would be dead on arrival or self destruct immediately. Built the 4 bikes, everything was fine for weeks, i then received a frame to review so i put the spare group on that. After weeks of "this stuff is wonderful", all hell started to break loose. The 2 dead RDs aren't the only problems i've had either. Had another problem yesterday i posted on the erx/9 dedicated thread.
