Re: Welcome to Chinertown - Introduce Yourself! Thanx for accepting me. I own since 9 years a carbonality GAEA Xc bike, no complains; ready to start the "santa china" project.
Regards from Italy.

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! Some people says and warns that to build a bike you need "hundreds of dollars of special tools". in my experience isn't like this: give that you have a normal tool set at home all I needed last time was the insert to lock the cassette, the insert for the bottom bracket and the cut chain tool: nothing else, total cost 30 usd maybe less.
You will need again these tools for bike maintenance.
(fork stem could be cutted with a hack saw and leveled with a file, star nut inserted with a screw driver and hammer; if you need to push in headset two washers and a long bolt)

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy Thread! Good to hear positive feedback on Haideli. Moreover given the lack of components even if we'd receive the frame today it's going to take long to find the parts.
I fell in love with this frame, but after reading this forum and elsewhere if you want something that is ready, widely tested and proven of a good quality you should go with ICAN P9.
I don't like P9 geometry, not very slack and long chainstay; probably you can improve it building a mullet bike. How much our frame is better than the P9 for the amateur rider like I am I don't know, maybe it would be the same.
Ok, let's relax and wait for the frames; I'll keep you posted about what Haideli will answer me after 15th, my promised shipping date.

Re: LCFS 917 - "Down Country" MTB Good to hear that lightcarbon has good quality; two questions:
in the last purchase did you notice price increase due to covid, raw material crisis?
And as you built XC, trail and enduro bikes: geometry is ok? Can you feel the difference? The enduro one is still good for pedaling uphill?
Thanks and good luck with last project!

Re: MTB 29" OG-EVKIN CF-054 Very nice and neat; probably a bit on the heavy side due to aliexpress components; my 29" XC bike with chinese carbon frame and wheels weight 9.4 kg with a 100 mm rockshox fork.
Still a nice built and probably not too heavy on the wallet.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy Thread! If your bike hasn't been produced yet I think you are still on time to change your mind. Any news from the small size guys?Frame on the way or not yet?
By coincidence I also ordered a kind of matte orange; I don't care what santa cruz does.

Re: Chinese Santa Cruz/AM831 On WinowCycle I have 19th of August expected delivery to my door (Italy). Anyway, it would be nice to have a clarification from Haideli about real shipping date. I can wait, but I don't like the attitude to add 15 days every 15 days. If they say September, I'm ok with that.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Thanks again to geekbox for the detailed report.  8) :)
So what I see:
- the rear axle is included, threaded with a lever, in my opinion could be used.
- seat post clamp: good if you plan to use a dropper (i won't), I will buy a QR one for my classic post.
- bottom bracket: a generic one is included, I wouldn't risk it. I have already had some experience with BBs and I ended up assuming that shimanos are the best (on the bearing side); I was also not satisfied with enduro bearings (lasted 1000 km vs 4000 km average of shimano). The ZTTO thread together could be an option, but I would also replace the bearing. IMHO shimano is the way to go, to avoid trials and errors with press fit on a carbon frame.
-rear shock mounting hardware: an official clarification from Haideli would be nice. 22.6 mm or 22.8 mm isn't a standard size; I don't feel the need for  bearings, rotation involved should be minimal and bushings enough, but we need the correct size; probably it's good to leave 0.1 mm, maybe 0.2 mm clearance but not more. Let's continue to share information about this.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
only dpx2.

About 40 GBP for the set plus they say you need their special tool, ouch!! Did you order 8x22 ?
The 8x30 is available on aliexpress for approx 5 USD, not the 8x22 or 8x22.8, still we don't know for sure which one we need of the two.
I also got notification of frame (size M) shipped.
Urrah!!!

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! My orange M frame should be on his way.
Meanwhile I bought most of the parts, I share my list with comments to give&receive suggestions:

Wheels: carbonality 30 mm asymmetric with DT swiss 350 and sapim cx ray: they look very well done and extremely light; I have been using a wheelset from same company on another bike for 8 years, no complains.
Groupset: all shimano XT 12 speed, it was not easy to find it; somehow I prefer shimano over Sram, but it is personal.
Brakes:still missing, I want formula cura 2 pots, but it looks like they are sold out around the world; plan B is shimano XT.
Fork: manitou mezzer pro, excursion internally changeable between 140-180 mm; I plan to start with 160 mm.
rear shock: dt swiss 535, I have just found out it has its special mounting system (it has a unibal in the eyelet), needs special hardware, maybe some filing or shims for perfect fit.
Seat post: elita one aliexpress, I don`t like/use droppers: for me they are just more weight and more problems, I change my seat height stopping and using a QR
Saddle: carbon aliexpress
Handlebar: here I ask for suggestion, I am looking for a reliable carbon one without breaking the bank: I selected og-evkin, but they don`t say if it is ok for enduro use; another option is ican rise (it says enduro capable) but possibly I would avoid the 35 mm diameter bars
Pedals: titanium flat aliexpress
Tyres: minion 2.5 wt  front and rekon 2.4 wt rear

Concerning fork rake, there is a difference in bike behaviour as you can read on various forums, but it is minimal, at least for the amateur, you will be fine anyway.
