Re: Debating between some frames, please advise I've completed and ridden the AM831, also orange like Stefan. LCFS947 was an option when I was choosing the frame, then I ended up with AM831 for these reasons:
It's a copy of santa cruz hightower, a really loved bike by many; it is lighter; the geometry is less extreme, less enduro maybe but in theory should be better pedaling uphill, that for me is very important. If I want something just for bike park I would buy a DH bike.
The bike rides very well, but of course I can't compare with LCFS947; I imagine that in real riding differences are minimal and influenced by tyres, suspension tuning etc etc.

Re: AM831 competitors? Help knudge me over! I've completed to build my AM831, light version 12.3 Kg. It's a great bike to ride, fast as XC uphill and good downhill, but I still need to tune the suspensions. Concerning the "problems" being a new frame it had  a lot of small issues that I (and the others) fixed while building the bike; you can read all of them in the big thread here.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Shimano chainring is direct mount but it still has some kinds of micro bolts on inner face that have reduced clearance to the frame;the aftermarket chainring hasn't these bolts.
I am ok with 34x51 uphill, I don't need easier gear ratio, but still 34x10 is useless to me, better 32t or even 30t

I don't like that lower link, but I prefer V1 to V2. The lower link V1 is not as bad as the upper link, because the bearings are rigidly coupled to each other in aluminum, and the carbon chain stays are in a region where they will not flex much relative to each other, guaranteeing a substantially constant width in the link area, i.e. the flex won't tend to pull out the bearings from their recesses as much as in the upper link.
That is exactly my idea: in the lower area there is less flex and even less after we will lock the upper; and, as you say, the bearings are in the alluminium so it is much more difficult to move them.
After  implementing your mod IMHO the frame should be enough safe and durable. Your solution is an engineering solution, the haideli one is just "houston we have a problem let's make everything bigger just in case"; and is very expensive too.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Any Haideli solution won't be cheap, even if they offer the rear triangle free of charge it will cost approx 100$ in shipping. JJJ fix is better on engineering side and cheaper; that's the  way to go. unless it turns out (I don t think so) that the 10 mm rear triangle eyelets are too weak and 14 mm is a must.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! At first I didn't pay attention to the flex issue, as my bike and many others here were fine, so I was thinking just about few defective ones.
After reading the great JJJ case study I also realize that the design is flawed and all frames potentially will show the flex issue.
JJJ fix is brilliant, Haideli one much less even if they invested in a new mold for rear triangle, obtaining the same result as JJJ on the upper link and maybe making it even worse on the lower; the triangle is beefier but this isn't necessary a good thing.
For sure the problem has to be solved on all frames, even the non flexing ones like mine: as haideli says carbon fiber is an anisotropic material (the paper sheet explanation); unexpected stress in unexpected direction can cause failure even with relatively low force; I would consider the frame dangerous without locking somehow the bearings in the recess.
The big question is if the old triangle section is strong enough after the bearings will be locked in place.
I am still positive that the fix will work and the bike will be a great bike as it is for now; for sure I don't want to invest 300$ in the new triangle or even worse 1000$ in the new haideli model.
We have to accept that we are beta testers of this frame, it's part of the fun too; just I hope at the end I will have a safe and reliable bike.
I am sure everybody isn't riding much due to winter season, but with the coming spring let's keep the community updated about possible failures or defects that this frame could bring.

Re: Those with AM831 built, are you happy with it if not including flexing issue? I am very happy; I have a very light bike with 831 and good performer downhill; I haven't used it much due to winter season but I am in love. Of course there are big problems with this frame that can be considered as defective from design; mine doesn't flex (yet) but the JJJ fix is a must.
Haideli approach to the problem is at least questionable

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! While waiting spring and JJJ holy fix, I can show you my frame protector made with aliexpress orange kydex and sticked with biadhesive tape. I am still wondering if it is the case to drill a drain hole at the bottom or not.

The flex issue has been discussed a lot, in your build thread too; just to synthesize: the original (non modded) frame flexed a lot due to bearings moving out of their recesses, creating a dangerous situation; the JJJ modded frame flexes only due to the real flex of rear triangle. The updated haideli rear triangle keeps the bearings in place with a solution very similar to JJJ's, but is also beefier (and heavier) then more stiff.
The original frame was defective and dangerous; the modded frame has its own flex , if this is too much for the rider weight and riding style is a personal evaluation.
The AM831 (and even the original santa cruz version) aren't anyway heavy duty enduro frames.
