Title: Carbon Tubeless Road disc wheelset recommendations?
Post by: pearl on June 29, 2020, 08:30:35 AM
Howdy; I usually deal with Bert @ XMIPlay, but he hasn't been responding to my emails. I have two wheelsets through XMIPlay and they have been flawless. Hoping someone see this or can point me in the direction to build a wheelset with the following:

25mm wide, tubeless preferred
38mm deep
12x142 rear
12x100 front TA
okay hubs (bitex/novatec), 6 bolt
Sapim CX-Rays spokes

Disc will be a new world to me, but is it reasonable to find a 1400-1500g wheelset for around $500 or so?

If you have built anything or have a link to what you bought, that would be helpful as well!

Rims are generally about $150 each + shipping.
Depending where you live that is already a small $400 as a start.
Novatec 411/412 are very light and quite good in my experience, but I'm light.
And CX-rays are great and light spokes, but more expensive.
So you'll be more in a $600-700 range and lighter than your target.

Here is a rim that is fine for 25mm tubeless(or tubed) tires.

Ask for the UST mode, no spoke holes, no tape needed.
And the disc version does not come with a brake surface.

Two friends ride them for about a year now, without any issue

Thanks, I’m 155lbs after dinner, so i think I’m on the high end of “light”!

If you go that route, you can contact Nancy at sales@lightbicycle.com
I forgot they ship from Canada too.
This may reduce the shipping costs.
