Post by: jakob on September 15, 2023, 05:21:25 PM
i am searching a saddle as light or lighter than the mcfk one (https://r2-bike.com/MCFK-Sattel-Carbon-offen-UD-Optik-matt-135-mm?iso=DE&gclid=CjwKCAjwgZCoBhBnEiwAz35RwtoVf718t8En6UKWw6Nkc2b-306ELd8RPGQdo9Gvh9vjy_xgBmBAIhoCZPsQAvD_BwE)
i found for example: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005004611211933.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2deu
or: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005003923285995.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2deu

for the bottle cages i search something as light as the elite leggero fot example:

My current bottle cage: https://guee-intl.com/products/qing/

17g, material is slightly more flex compared to carbon cages or alloy, easy access from sides (I ride small frames), and most importantly, looks nice on bike.

I use these for multiple years now:

I ride them on my street bike and later got them for my roadbike too.

They are not a big investment as they are super cheap, they carry anything from the standard bidons to beer or wine bottles, you can bend them within limits to perfectly fit your bottles and they weight slightly under 20g while being super secure.

You can also get them made from carbon but I wouldn't spend 4 times as much to save 5g per bottle cage and you can't bend them.

For the saddle I would sacrifice 20g in weight savings and get the mixed ultralight one, it's not the most sturdy one but comfy. I used to ride a 69g bare carbon saddle before that and wouldn't want to go back.

I also tried the 3d printed ones and can't recommend them unless you are really tall but lightweight

So, they should hold common non-reusable 1,5 l pet bottles?

They might be too big but most smaller bottles fit fine e.g. wine bottles, beer bottles, activeO2 bottles, 1l coke pet-bottles, beer or cider cans,...

i don't have a seat recommendation but for bottle cages i have ordered these.  they are crazy light at 7-8g and they are shockingly rigid and have great holding strength.  they are easily able to handle XC to trail riding.  i would not take them to the DH park (have not actually tried) but i have been very happy with them.

I ride these saddles on all my bikes: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32921891894.html

Sometimes they crack on my MTB, always at the same place(orange arrow), not sure why.
I will try to reinforce the zone with some UD cloth and epoxy.

And have always one as spare in case of.

why 3d printed only for really tall and lightweight? (which fits my description, I believe, and am considering)

Lots of lightweight cage and saddle options.
For saddles, comfort should take priority over weight. I tried the Mixed ultralight saddle for my gravel bike and absolutely hated it. Did not work for me, but it might be ok for you. If you know what shape or style of saddle works for you, try to find one that best matches it. Of course you won't actually know if it fits until you use it.
