Well, that's early in the project but parts are being ordered as I am waiting for the frame to become available in L. This will be my very first built, I have barely touched a bike in 20+ year but that should be the project getting me back into it and first project shared with my son (5yo) who has developed a huge interest for mountain biking.
Here is the component selection so far (in bold what's been ordered, I will add the weight as I receive the parts vs quoted ones), prices is what I paid including shipping, taxes and discounts:

Missing frame and wheels, everything else has been ordered (well, missing greases and carbon paste), I think. open to comments, suggestion from more experienced builder, anyone who's been thinking about building a bike for more than 4 weeks lol
-
It's one of the rare chinese carbon hardtails that has a reasonable modern geometry, so I am very curious how you like it.
-
Fix your links, mister.
-
done, I think.
-
hello, any news in build, some pictures?
thx
-
Still waiting for frame to be available in large. Received most of the stuff, I’ll start posting pictures soon.
-
Well, received pretty much everything that was ordered, I have to admit that I am especially impressed by two sub system:
Zrace brake
ltwoo shifter/derailleur
The visual quality is really impressive for what you pay for it
In the disappointment side, not related to this project but to my son bike, Goldix chainring and crankset, not really impressed. For exemple, if I buy a set ring and crankset, I would expect to have the screws for the ring to be supplied?!
-
What chainline does this crankset have? The frame is 55mm chainline (as is the the Scott scale).
That means (w/o considering noname) it's either MTB boost wide / MTB wide or the new SRAM transmission.
Otherwise your chain might rub ob the chain stays.
I am also considering a build with the m06 and waiting for the Large version.
-
this a great question that I havent fully considered TBH. I bought because it was compatible with SRAM stuff, just like the cassette and had 3mm offset that seems to be somewhat of the standard for boost:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2261799813911502.html
I may be wrong on many accounts...
The frame will supposedly available on the 25th. they are also going to list integrated handlebar:

-
Rockbros foam grip
-
Zrace X4 brake set
-
Zrace 32T chainring, 3mm offset
Zrace BB
-
Zrace hard rock crankset 170mm
-
Spedao 12 speed cassette, 10-50T
-
YBN 12S, I am’ second guessing myself with that choice vs KMC
-
Elitaone seat post
-
The cassette came without the lockring, any good spot to buy one? I am not too sur which one I need exactly, XD compatible is my only clue, not sure if they are any other considerations
-

If its an XD cassette then there is no lockring. You need a standard shimano cassette lockring tool to thread the cassette directly to the XD driver body I believe.
-
Also, I like this thread already, got your items listed with weights. I like all the details. I hope the build goes well and excited to see how you find this when built up and riding! 8)

Ok, thanks for clarifying!

Thanks, I am enjoying the hunting for information, parts and also the documenting. The build will be vastly overdone vs my needs as I mostly ride with my 5yo, but it’s a cool project that I am sharing with my son so definitely worth it!
-
I had a Z race crank like that for a while on several bikes. I really liked it, and fairly light for price. Destroyed when it was on my son's bike and he was jumping with loose cranks. I would recommend it tho
Interested in that cassette: is there a microspline version available?

Speedao don't make a MS version but ZTTO make an ultralight equivalent here: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPdjCfe

Slowly getting everything I need, pedals and saddle
-
Overall, what kind of budget are you working to and what weight are you hoping to complete the build to?
-
total cost will be around 1700$ I think, weight should be around 20lbs. bulk of the cost of course is in frame and wheelset
-
Got myself a repair stand, went el cheapo way, but I think it will do it just fine:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BMN8BM3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
-
Frame now available on SP cycle website (not on Ali yet), working hard on not giving in and ordering it just a week before Ali sales event …

Received, not sure how much better are the one costing 3-4x more. Must be différences but this one will do the job just fine
-
I think the more expensive ones genenrally are more robust. I run a bike shop and we have a hydraulic bike stand. It is overkill but definelty better than a standard workstand. At home I have a really basic one which was about £50 and is great. As long as you can lift your bike from the ground, doing work is much much easier. That stand should last you a long time and you'll be glad to have got it ;)
-
My back and knees will enjoy the addition for sure :)
-
added the tool purchase list for a first time builder like me.
Regarding the frame, apparently some production delay. I have been looking at a few alternatives and may move to one of these should a good deal come up in during the 11/11 sales almost tempted to move to a 100-120mm full suspension but it moves the budget up quite a bite, at least another $500
-
I'm excited to see what deals can be had from 11/11. I've got my eyes on EDS shifter/derailleur but looking for a spare frame as a "just in case". Its a shame you don't have the frame yet, I'd loved to have seen it in case its comes up on 11/11 sales.
-
Quick update, on the wheels. After many messages exchanged with Leao @Yuan an, pretty settles on a set on wheels with UD mat, M14 ratchet, wing20 spokes. That’s a really lightweight option, a bit more expensive that I was planning to spend (much higher specs) so waiting on 11.11 discount in frame to settle in that choice, budget permitting.
Leon has really been awesome to deal with, if the ordering and shipping is as painless, it will be a strong recommendation from me.
-
Got the M06 frame in L in the 11.11 sales, got a nice 88$ discount all in all, pretty pleased. also ordered a syncros fraser handlebar
Edit: first post now updated with the new links and prices. Now the wait starts for wheels and frame…
-
is the frame the same geometry as the SCOTT 2023 frame?
-
Yes, exact same dimensions
-
Wheels have been built:
-
Did you get your frame or hear anything about it? I ordered mine, size L, on 21. of october. SP told me it would ship beginning of december. havent heard anything since, no more answers from SP.
-
Not received yet. I am still getting updates on aliexpress when I request but no shipping yet
-
Same. I ordered in L and havent received updates. I contacted them around 16th of December and they mentioned that the bottom bracket was too loose on the first batch of frames.
-
First batch had that issue, 2nd batch was oversold so they requested some to delay order, which I accepted, now the third batch has been produced and in paint last week from what I was told. I am not really in a rush so I don’t mind but next time I’ll probably buy from someone that has stock rather than made to order just to satisfy my impatience
Nice to see that the frame found its market though!
-
Update: frame is getting its clearcoat…
-
Ah good, in that case i'm glad i didng get one of those first batch frames, im in no hurry either, just getting excited to put alm the parts togegher.
-
I got a painted frame! It was apparently a challenge to get what I wanted (clear with chamaeleon effect still showing the carbon through) so far communication as been really good with seller on official aliexpress store. It took more time than expected but I was clear from the start that I wasn’t in a rush.
Can’t wait to have that box in front of me!
-
And it just showed up, it’s a beauty, picture don’t do it justice!
The paint is slightly clear and let the carbon show through. The finish seems good, I can see that BB and headset have been sanded/faced, inside it looks realy clean too. I will run endoscopic camera to check further.
-
Nice
I got mine too snd just installed the bottom bracket. I was able to just move the sram gxp bracket in by hand. Is this normal or did i get one of the frames with the bb too wide as mentioned further up?
Im afraid it'll end up creaking rather fast.
-
Not there yet…
I am awaiting to put the decals on the frame and have it PPFed before I bring tools close to it lol
I did last night test fitting rear wheel and ended up breaking the plastic UDH. Luckily I had ordered a spare one, that one is metal. First time using UDH, cant say I am impressed with the design:
Screw/rod is aluminum and can take 10Nm - 6mm Hex key
Nut side is metal but threading in plastic UDH - 8mm hex key, not torque info
When I screw the rod in I failed to have an hex key on the other side which I think ended up overtorquing the UDH indirectly and cracking it :/
Have you routed your brake and derrailleur tubing? Any issues?
-

That BB shell is too big. I suggest you do not ride the bike like this since you can damage the BB shell if the BB starts moving.
You are better off installing it with Loctite 609 and activator. It will fill the gap.
Read up on using Loctite on BB's before you start using it.
-
Thanks for the advice, i'll read up on that.
Brakecable routing went ok, it looks good with the syncros fraser but im afraid the sharp edges of the headset-inlet will damage the cable soon, filed them some.
-
No room for foam?
I run the hydraulic tubing last night, it went without too much problem as well, using a $4 cable routing kit. The chainstay is getting narrow when meeting the frame and there was some kind of a ridge inside blocking tube when running it straight in.
Installed the foam and ran all the way up, seat nicely in the Bb area (see pic)
Then I ran into a bit of a problem when I realized I forgot to get the jagwire shifter cable housing. Ordered and expecting delivery tomorrow. As I wait I’ll PPF the chainstay and seat tube
Oh and I confirmed the X4 caliper fits at the rear
-
worked on some stickers designs to dress up the frame, comments welcome. I just bought a cheap vinyl cutter, not sure how well it can handle these shapes. never used one so a bit of a learning curve expected there
the first one for the head tube
second one for the top tube, near head tube
third is for the main tube frame, it will be big, probably around 15" (37cm) x 4# (10cm)
fourth is going to be on the top tube, seat side, either on top or or each side
-

Well, same issue, I just tried to fit the BB and the cup slide in there with 0 resistance, no interference fit for sure!
Spoke with SP Cycle rep (he has been great since the beginning of ordering process), he recommends also to use loctite. From weakest to strongest: 641-609-638
I will read spec sheets of these tomorrow and make a judgment call on the one to use…

I have used the 609 on my crappy and almost ruined BB shell of my OG-Evkin Hardtail and it works. If you heat it (hairdryer) you can also get is disassembled fairly easy.
-
Thanks for the feedback! I was going to go incrementally but I’ll go straight to level 2 then!

I have used foam protection for the hose, but for the first time - i didnt put it all the way up thru the headset. I guess i'll check after the first ride and if the hose looks bad ill try to add some foam.
I found a Tripeaks twistfit bottom bracket, a pressfit bb that screws together and is supposed to work in these cases. I'll try that and combine it wiht locktite if necessary.
-
That’s a a solution I looked at too but I’ll try loctite only first. Should be here on Friday. I think it will hold, the only question may be for how long, we shall see.
I test fitted fork and “syncros” bar, definitely a tight fit for the brake and derailleur line. I am glad I went with jagwire for the later, I hope it helps to still have a smooth operation
What stacking for adapters are you going for? I was a bit confused with all the options!
-
Well I secured the Bb with loctite 609, a lot runnier than I was expecting but it seems to hold, I will try to finish the built in the next couple of days as I think I have everything I need…

Yeah, it is thin indeed. But it seems to get a bit more voluminous when it sets.
Good luck!

Frame stickers up last night, need to apply ppf now and set up the tubeless wheels. That last one is not something I am really looking forward, first time and what I am reading doesn’t bring a lot of enthusiasm for the task lol

Tubeless on a MTB is fairly straightforward most of the time. So no need to be afraid
-
Status update with some decent pics
-
Looking good!
Tubeless is easy these days. As long as your rim is taped well and you tighten the valve you shouldn't have too many issues and most setups go up fine with a track pump. I use a water bottle, squirt some soap in and then a tiny bit of water to make a squirtable foam and apply that around both sides of the tyre. Works a treat and worth trying if you can't do it "dry".
-
1st complete assembly pic. Still need to trim the seat post.
All in, 9.15kg (20.15lbs).
-
Hi, to mount the handlebars did you have to use any shims not included in the kit you purchased?
What system did you use to put pressure on the headset bearings?
-
I finished mine (mostly) as well.
Some minor things like brake fluid / air in the system. Haven't ridden it yet due to being sick all the time.
Weight is around something around 9.8kg - I don't have proper scale, only one intended for luggage.

I used only parts that came with frame/handlebars.
The used fork I bought had an expandable nut in it and it was same thread as the handlebar cover bolt so I simply did the adjustment per regular procedure

That’s a nice looking bike and higher specs that mine! Looking forward to your feedback. I should take it on its maiden ride this weekend. Actually thinking of taking Friday off to go ride!

Thank you for the explanation

Are the cables only routed through the head tube? This frame looks really nice. If only a 38t oval chainring with a 52mm chainline would fit, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it (factory max is 40T @55mm). Any information on this case?
-

Thanks, I like the colour of yours as well. That's why I went with frame protection to have some contrasting colour.
Did you also experience that the thru axle in the back was too long? By maybe 1-2mm... I needed to have a bigger spacer for the thru axle because my rear wheel had some play. The one provided was too thin. In the process I know now not to overtighten the udh hanger because it is partly made out plastic :).
I also replaced the bottom headset cup with one from hope because I seem to have used too much force while putting the crown race on.
One side of the bottom bracket cup (SRAM dub) was too loose, I was able to put it in with my bare hands. I "glued" them in with loctite 241 retaining compound to be sure not to get any squeaking BB in the future.
Beside those things I am really impressed overall by the quality. It's my first Chinese frame, I am really looking forward to ride it.
-
I had the same issue with the BB shell, and used loctite.
Thru axle was too long and I also cracked a UDH. They sent me a replacement one and a 2mm washer. Communication and support from seller has been very good.
All cables are routed through head tube (derrailleur and brake) no issue, there is a lot space everywhere to route these easily
-
This is a fantastic build log!
I am interested as to how you are finding the L-Twoo shifters and derailleur?
I am looking at building something similar for my daughters bike, but was planning on going with Shimano or Sram for the drivetrain.
-
Thanks!
Setting up and adjusting the Ltwoo was a breeze. The shifting is nice and crisp, the only critic would be that the throw to the upside is a tad long but may just be a matter of getting used to it.
End of this year my daughter should be tall enough for a 24”, I will probably built her a bike using same type of components. I am not sure how quality is on the cheaper Ltwoo stuff though.
Overall I am really pleased with all the components I got but only time will define if it was good value. Fit and looks have been exceeding my expectations for sure.
-
How's the ride? I'm very interested in this frame, the geometry looks really good.
-
I really lack any good reference points to answer that unfortunately
-
First ride today
The good:
Bike feels super responsive
Riding position is confortable
ltwoo groupset is good
front brake feel is great
Handle grips feel is great
The “need work”
Rear brake feels weak, probably need a good flush to remove any air bubble
Shifter feel is good but I need to work on positioning
The need upgrade/replacement:
Toseek bottle cage broke on first ride
Pedals are too small
-
Your bike came out great - and yours too Snife!
Is it really 9.1kg? Seems very light for the spec but is impressive if it is that light!
Seeing it built up is giving me a bit of envy to try another Chiner frame...maybe another year :P
-
Yes, 9.1kg fully built. Not much fat on any components honestly. Good weight savings are on wheels and tires I think.
Rear brake is better, not sure if it was the purging or simply needing more miles to bed in. Anyway I have a couple of different pad compounds and new rotors to try out too. Definitely not liking the pedals much.
Spending a week in Hot Springs and getting some miles in. After about 25miles of riding I had a creaking headset, increased a little the preload and it seems to have cured it. Crankset is also creaky, haven’t tried anything yet.
-
In the wild.
Did a few more miles, bike is so pleasant to ride. I am also impressed by the simple handle grips I have, foam, great level of comfort! They are fragile though but such a low cost that I don’t care, I’ll simply replace as needed.
The bolt on steer tube compression fitting is rusting already, I will replace by titanium one and be done with it…
-
Ordered a frame in red last night. Hope they solved the BB issue. I will post pictures when it arrives
-
If you don’t have a BB maybe just find a BB93 that screw both side together
-
yes, I have seen ztto on aliexpress that is aluminium threded in the middle. I would buy something like that
-
Like other gentlemen noticed the confusing 55mm chainline specified by SP-Cycle, I also wonder what a gloomy Chinese genius created here. So, you're using a standard boost crankset with a 3mm chainring which doing just fine. But I'm particularly interested in how the chain is aligned now with respect to the cassette (somewhere in the middle, let's say 6-7th cog) and chainring. Is it somewhat parallel and straight? And what about backpedaling on the biggest cog of the cassette? Any issues with the falling chain?
I'm trying to understand if the frame was designed at all to be 55mm chainlinish or if it's just another marketing crap about fitting a 40T ring but with mad offset (0mm something).
-
The 55mm chainline looks real measured with a 3mm off set. However at this offset and with 32t ring I seem to have some rubbing under load condition as my frame is scuffed at the chainstay/ring area. And there is no way you can go bigger than 32t with 3mm offset, or I put the bike together wrong, which is entirely possible lol
I’ll add pictures later tonight.
-
See the pics, I didn’t resize as some may want to have the zoom in
The chain pick is on 7th cog (1 being smallest)
-
Gosh, it’s quite a tight fit in here. I appreciate your help and photos.
From what I can see, I'd speculate that even the 6th cog results in a slightly shifted chain toward the center line at the cassette's side; but I'd gladly hear other opinions. Indeed, I can't understand how this frame is supposed to accommodate 40T even with a 0mm offset.
Let's see what other users can say on this matter. Perhaps mr. Snife might have something to share.
-
I would agree with you, 6th cog would probably still be somewhat offset. Regarding chain coming off on back pedaling, hasn’t happened to me but I don’t recall being in that scenario either
-
I think that you might have the wrong chainring offset for the current frame.
From my knowledge a 55mm chainline needs a 0mm offset chainring or a couple crankset spacers. So using a 3mm offset chainring might be what is causing your shifting issues and interference with the chain stays.
Wolf tooth has a pretty good article about 55mm offset below.
https://www.wolftoothcomponents.com/pages/how-to-find-the-correct-chainring-for-your-mountain-bike-with-sram-transmission
-
Awesome, thanks for the guidance, I will get a 0 offset chainring. Shifting was really nice right now, I hope that won’t change…
-
My large frame SP-Cycle M05 hardtail with Rockshox SID Ultimate 100mm travel, PNW Coastal dripper and with pedals, ended up weighting between 22.5 and 23.75 lbs depending on what wheel set/tires I put on the bike. (10.2 and 10.7 KG) 9.1 KG seems like a fairly light bike.)
-
How the Zrace brakes perform? I bought the x2 model, they are very light. The same weight as XTR and with very good machinig
-
I love the front brake, great feel, rear got a whole lot better but doesn’t have the exact same feel, like weaker bite.
-
Gosh, it’s quite a tight fit in here.
Sorry for not replying earlier. I was too busy mountain biking :-).
First of all, the bikes rides like a charm. It climbs so well and I also did hit jumps / drops of around 40cm, it feels very capable in that regard. The 120mm Sid with 35 stanchions feels like a perfect fit. I hear some minor rattle when I drop/jump, which i guess is the hydraulic brake hose in the chain stay. I used foam for the inner routing, but this was almost impossible to get into the chain stay.
Generally I am very very happy with bike. I need to cut down the carbon post by a few centimetres and get a quick release clamp for riding down nasty stuff.
My first training race is yet to come in April.
Regarding chainline:
I guess the 55mm is because this is a direct copy from a Scott scale (2023 model upwards), the 55mm chainline is used.
I didn't even try to use standard boost. I am 100 percent sure this is due to UDH being used by SRAM Transmission, which all use 55mm chainline (MTB wide standard). All transmission chainset use MTB wide / 55m.
What I did: I use a standard bb92 dub bottom bracket, and bought the spacer set from SRAM. I follow the SRAM dub manual using a 3mm spacer on the left and a 5mm spacer on the right side.
I use a SRAM X0 chainset with integrated power meter with 175mm / 32t.
You can get the gx transmission chainset for around 100 to 150 euro new now. I also like the style of the transmission, especially the x0 with the hole in it.
All transmission chainsets are compatible with standard eagle chain and derailleur. In my case the gx axs.
The chainline doesn't cause any issues, it shifts perfectly, no need to setup or change anything (beside b tension of course).
My rear wheel is standard boost obviously.
I don't have any pictures, but I might post some next week. I don't have the bike with me right now.

I am going to build mine with GX T-Type transmision with the old sram cranks for boost, but, with a 0 offset 34T, this will give me the 55mm chainline.
By the way, It's been more than two weeks since I ordered my frame form Aliexpress and SPCycles haven't send it. How long did it cost to send your frame? Yours was raw finish, mine will be metallic paint so it still goes slower
-
It will depend if they have the frames in stock or if they are waiting for a new batch. I had quality feedback when asking questions on AliExpress messaging
-
Well I changed my 3mm off set chainring by a 0mm one and it for sur didn’t result in 3mm extra clearance for chainring/chainstay… maybe 1mm, at most.
Edit: well now it’s dropping the chain like crazy at the chainring while on the lowest gear which it never done before. I think that chainring is no bueno.
Edit 2: fitted the 3mm offset z race back and no more drops, so I guess that settles it for the moment
-
Hi, I've noticed a terrible, annoying creaking noise from the bottom bracket. Can you give me some advice?
-
How is your BB mounted, did you use loctite? I have some creaking at times too but nothing worst than what I hear from much more expensive frames riding around me, so I haven’t been overly concerned with it, maybe I should lol
-
I have used loctite 641 retaining compound for that exact fear. I cannot stand squeaking bbs.
So far no squeaking, it really also hold up to every abuse I put it through. I had my first simulated race and couldn't be happier.
I am really missing a dropper post though. Let's see whether I can a cable routed through it without removing the BB.
-
Should be doable, there is a lot of room in the BB area to run it up the seat tube. You have the magnet thingy?
-

Hello everyone,
I wanted to assemble my new M06 frame today and noticed that the chain line wasn't right or that the crank was touching the chainstay. I drive an xx1 34t and a power meter from Stages. In my opinion I need to increase the chainline from 52 to 55. That means I can throw my power meter in the trash and have to buy a completely new crankset. Is that correct or is there another option?
-
For sure 34T doesn’t fit, 32T barely fit on 52mm chain line. Can you not find a 0mm offset chainring for your power meter? I tried a cheap one but chain kept on falling off…
-
so can anyone substantiate the 40T on 55mm with 0 offset? or is this just total BS? and probaly 36T doesn't even work?
-
I have a 0mm offset ring on the way, once fitted it will probably give a good idea.
-

You could take a look at the shimano FC-M8120-1 crankset.

I'm not sure what this suggestion is for? It's a standard 55mm chainline, but with wide(ish) q-factor. The frame is listed as 40T but clearly has much less clearance.
-
Just found a video: https://youtu.be/cOxW6rk9C4Q?t=1060
The guy uses a standard SLX 7100 crankset (52 chainline) with 0mm 36T, but he said it was 38T in the video. He also mentioned that it certainly has room for 40T.

Just got my Sp-Cycle M06 in chameleon blue colour.
Here are some pictures of the frame (size Large - weight including thruaxle was exactly 1200grams)

Looks great! I am on the hunt for the same fork and just ordered a riro carbon crankset for it.
I am in love with that bike, makes me wonder why I stopped riding for 25y! I have been out with my son and by myself almost on a weekly basis since the build, did my first 30k ride with it last weekend (time is at a premium with kids so I’ve mostly been doing punchy 1h rides)
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!
-
Really like this frame, but is that a straight steerer tube? Doesn't look tapered .. it's 2024 :-)
-
Same as the spark it’s based on, no?

Really nice build. Everything fine until now?
What is your Body height and length on leg?
May be you can tell what´s the distance between middle of BB and the top of the saddle?
Thank you very much in advance :)

40t 0 offset chainring 7100 cranks
what chainlink version of the SLX cranks is that? the 52mm?
-
Just installed the Riro carbon crankset on it yesterday. Same issue as previous crankset, shaft is too short with the preload ring installed, so I simply removed and I was able to tighten drive side to spec without overloading the bearings and no play
-
Further upgrades, installing new fork, Rockshox SID SL and the ne elitaone master seat post.
Later install went super smooth, quaility is on par with otter stuff I got from them.
For the fork, need to go to Lowe’s to get pvc pipe in order to install crown race, -300g vs the Reba I have currently
-
I also have some smaller updates from mine.
My bottom bracket broke. It simply got stuck within itself not being able to move the bearing (I guess not enough or too much load on the SRAM dub BB) and have since changed it.
Due to using the "removable" retaining compound Loctite, it was a breeze to change. I feared that I have to use extensive force or damage the frame. It was a strong / concentrated hit with a bearing removal tool and very simple.
I have since moved to lighter wheels (xr1501 non boost using adapters) which makes a big difference how nimble it feels.
Still very happy so far
-
I did have the same concerns regarding the removal of the BB but went super smooth as well
-
Seems like a lot of folks racing with the M06 frame. Curious if this frame is also a good choice for recreational trail riding. Nothing radical, I will keep my full suspension bike for that, but a good choice for long assents and flowing descents which are typical of where I ride.
Was thinking of using a Shimano XT M8100 complete group set (30T, 170mm cranks)...will that work with this frame.
Thanks in advance.
-
I love mine for sure! Now that I upgraded the fork to sid SL the level of comfort on rough trails is really good, the elite one seat post seems to also offer some level of compliance. Regarding your set up, I feel like 30-52 is really to climb walls, not sure on the use case but then again, I live in Houston.
The only thing to fault it with: 6mm offset chainring and the BB92…
-
I feel like 30-52 is really to climb walls
Yea, getting old and live in the NW and some of the climbs are at my limit. Can you elaborate on the 6mm offset? Does this mean that the standard crankset that comes with XT-M8100 groupset won't work?
Thanks
-
This frame has a 55mm chainline so you need a 0mm offset (sorry not 6, I got confused). At least that’s what I did
-
For shimano and 55mm chainline you will need a 8120 xt crankset (not the usual 8100, boost crank), the 0 offset chainring is for sram boost cranks
-

Regarding your comment on racing.
Due to the more modern geometry than a lot of traditional xc hardtails (67 degree head tube angle) you will definitely have a better time on even harder trails (S2 and S3).
I have paired it with a 120mm SID to make it more down country oriented, but it will always be a hardtail and not nice to your hands and forearms.
-
Ok, 55mm chain line.
I can get a great deal on XT-M8100 group set right now with 52mm chain line so would love to be able to use the M8100 crank. Can I get 3mm spacers to move the chainring out slightly or is it not so simple? How big a deal is having the chain perfect for a recreational rider?
-
If am’ yoj want to run is 30T you may be ok with that crankset. I can’t remember what I originally had on the bike but it was super tight clearance between chainring and frame. The answer to what I had is probably at the beginning of this thread
-
Considering that most of the time I am pedaling hard is when I am going uphill in the larger Cogs (51,45), and hardly ever use the smaller Cogs then having the chain line 3mm closer in might actually be better in my situation as it moves the chainline closer to the larger cogs. Assuming there there is sufficient clearance for the front chainring, which with a 30T front I would hope there is...
Does that make sense or do I not understand what chainline is all about.

First let me thank the members of the forum for all the help.
Based on the input I have gotten I am getting ready to order 2 SP-M06 frames (one for me and one for my wife) size S and Medium. I initially was leaning toward the SP-M016 frame as it seemed like a more all mountain geometry, but it has been discontinued and the M06 frame seems versatile and getting good reviews.
Components I am thinking of using. Let me know if any of these don't seem compatible or bad choice

I am not sure if they have fixed the BB cup issue. Mine were oversized but got quickly sorted with some loctite glue. I now put a screw on BB92 (where the 2 half screw together, I think it’s a good solution for this frame

Thanks, but I don't get what you mean? How does a screw solve the problem of oversized opening in the frame for press fit BB92?

How does cable routing work if I use a standard stem and handle bar rather than a single piece handlebar/stem combination? Are there other openings in the frame for the cables or only through an integrated bar/stem headset?
-
No opening but the frame come with headset cover meant to be used with regular stem, the cover has 3 holes in it to run you cabling through it

Ludo; Do you have a contact (email) of someone at Yuan An wheels? I have sent them inquiries via their website but getting no replies. Are you still happy with the wheels you got from them. Thanks

It has been posted by a couple of guys these last few days that they don’t do direct to customer anymore. Get from elite wheels or covet (their new brand apparently) on AliExpress. Some good coupons right now.

Thanks, I reached out to Elite Wheels. Could not find 33mm wide 29er wheels at <1300g online (1500g was the lightest) but hoping can find some 1280g wheels like you did.
