Title: Recommendation on 1x12 MTB groupset?
Post by: Michi on October 28, 2023, 04:08:17 AM
I briefly read through the threads - MTB groupsets seem to be of less interest compared to road/gravel. So I'd like to ask for experences and recommendations on MTB 1x12 speed groupsets? Focus is on shifter/derailleur recommendation, but hints on HG compatible cassettes are alos welcome :-)
From what I found the Ltwoo TX (letters mixed up ;-)?) seems to be an option, or possibly Sensah XRX? I would not go for carbon cage...
Would the ZTTO 12 speed with a weight of 400g (11-50) a good idea?
Thanks for any hints!

I have the TX ready to be mounted, it looks and feel very good. Not sure what could be better for $50. Cassette I went to sroad/spedao as it seems a relatively popular choice, I saw some good feedback on ztto too.

Just get Microshift Advent X. It's "only" 10 speed but it's fantastic. I'm sure it's slightly more expensive than the Chinese ones you posited but it's reliable and robust.

Why not get the Shimano Deore or SLX? Entire group or bits and pieces of Shimano + Chiner parts. M6100 shifter, derailleur are just 40 bucks. Don't think any other Chinese group beats that in value or price. Lowest end Shimano stuff is also better than SRAM lowest end parts, hands down.

They don’t get much interest because you can get oem groups from shimano for nearly the same amount. To this day I don’t think any Chinese mtb group has an actual clutch derailleur.

Thx for discussing on my question! For the Shimano SLX I read that the derailleur only works with 10 teeth smallest cog; but I can use only 11 (restricted by HG freehubs). Anyway, I ordered the L-TWOO TX set plus a Spedao 11-50 cassette. At least for the chain I stay with proven suppliers means Shimano :-)

No, I'm using Deore with 12 speed Sunshine 11-52 HG cassette. The cassettes have inconsistent QC so indexing can be a pain but there's no limitation from derailleur or shifter side as such.

KMC and YBN have good review for chains
