Not many people post photos of their completed bikes on here, but I always enjoy the posts. So I wanted to post my recently completed build on here, and share how much I spent. A lot of builds on here are really balling on a budget but I really purchased from mainstream vendors for less sketchiness, build came out to $3,288 assembled by my LBS
Mechanics first "Chinese" build at the bike shop, he was very impressed with the quality and noted that the internal cable routing gave him no problems. All of the workers at the bike shop where really interested in the build and none had ever heard of Winspace. This really shows how obscure this forum is, we are so far away from mainstream. He did ride it and was super impressed with it, I told them how my goal was to create an entry level roadbike, but have carbon wheels at the same price point.

Just out of curiosity what country?
I have a feeling that winspace and chinese brands in general haven't penetrated the non english speaking market as strongly.

Knoxville TN, United States. Most of the people who I have ran into riding here seem to be older. Less exposure to the corners of internet

Thank you for sharing your build!
It looks really nice I like the paintjob.
Let us know how you find 12 spd mechanical!

Looks great.

My previous bike was spec'd with Shimano Claris 8 speed, and let me tell you coming from that 12s seems excessive. I honestly think 10 speed is probably all you would ever need, so I would guide the forum to save money and buy the now "old" 11 speed groupsets at lower prices. The 11-34 cassette is absolutely ridiculous, and once it wears out I will be going down to a 11-30. Previous Claris cassette was 11-28, and I was able to make it up all the mountains here in east TN. What is nice with going from 8-12 is that the jumps between cogs are much smaller, which I never realized would be that big of a deal. I feel like the only time I would ever use the 34T is if I was bonking hard
-
That Black Friday deal for the T1550 and Hyper wheels was killer. I've been rocking my setup now for over 3 years. Still one of my favorite bikes.

Yes I agree with you, been doing same with 11 speed di2 and most times used (but in practically new condition). Have found facebook marketplace a good source

Have you tried to fit 32mm tires yet?

Yeah the older guys definitely aren't as aware of the Direct to consumer chinese brands since they have the money; the younger guys are the ones who have to stretch the coin and look around

Hey @Macedingle, just wondering the black friday deal you used 2450$ USD for the Frameset+bar+wheels did you also include an extra 10% discount code?
They are offering me 2580$ USD now but with SE wheels and no extra 10% discount code...still debating if I should pull the trigger or wait a bit more.
Thanks

I am not the person you are tagging but afaik the SE wheels is pretty much the non-SE version with steel bearings, there is nothing wrong with steel bearings and probably better in terms of durability and long term performance.
If their offer is $2450 with SE wheels I would take it, but I would wait a bit if it is $2580 to see if they are going to have a sale soon.

I did get an extra 10% off. Try discount code gcperformance10. One of my previous posts has a spreadsheet full of discount codes!

Here is my T1500 w/ D67 Hyper Wheels. Over 2 years of use and still probably my favorite bike. Mechanical shifting Ultegra R8020 has been absolutely flawless. Elilee OSPW system...now out of production >:(
-
Hey Pat! Your videos helped me make my decision to get a T1550! Cheers for the great content!
-
Thanks both for sharing your photos! How does the rim brake perform?
-
Im 70kg so braking isn't really a problem. The only gripe I have is that the rear bottom bracket mounted brakes are not friendly to set up and maintain.
I have the SLC 2.0 also and this bike is stiff city! For longer rides I think the SLC 2.0 is much more comfortable and compliant and also about 600 grams lighter.

Pat now has depression over the changed geometry in the 1550 2.0

I am really looking into the new t1550 gen 2. Love the colors and the huge amount of great reviews of the previous versoin. However, there is one thing that worries me: i have often heard that the t1550 gen 1 is very stiff, almost too stiff and therefore uncomfortable for longer rides. According to winspace, the rear triangle of the gen 2 is even 36% stiffer compared to the first genreation. Do you guys think the increased stiffness is is getting problematic riding gen 2?

I do agree the rear triangle of the T1550 is super stiff. Not sure how “36%” translates to real life feel, but you can always counter this will steel spoke wheels instead of carbon to soften ride feel. I think the T1550 and the T1550 Gen2 are both some of the best Chinese Carbon on the market. You can save a little money getting the Gen1, but the Gen2 geometry is better for more riders

How tall are you? I am 185cm, which is pretty mutch the upper limit of the 520 size. I am currently considering whether i should go for the 520 with a longer stem, or play it safe and order the 550 with shorter stem. The smaller frame is lighter, has a more aggressive geometry and looks better to me.

I am kind of regretting not getting an SLC 2.0. Less weight and more tire clearance than the frame I chose :'( Maybe next time.

I am 188cm, and went with the Zero bar that is 105 stem length. If I were you I would do 520 with a longer stem, that is what Patrick Lino does on his.

Yesterday i recieved my T1550 Gen 2 Frame. I opted for the 520 with the longest stem available (125mm). Lets see how this fit works for me! Overall i like the quality of the frame, paint and frame accesories. Speaking of which: in the frame accesories box was this little wedge. Do you know what it's for? I never had this in my previous builds.

Looks like the seatpost wedge, pretty crucial part of the build.
-
thanks for your response. This is not the seatpost wedge. Its another one, much smaller compared to the seatpost wedge,

Maybe it is a seatpost Di2 baterry holder, the wedge-in part. See if it fits inside the seatpost with room to spare for the Di2 battery.
-
I contacted Winspace about this wedge/di2 battery holder because I also wasn't sure what it was. They gave me this pdf.

What’s the weight of frame and fork compared to the claimed values.
And what color did you get?

I weighed the frame in size L (520) including the derailleur hangers and, big surprise, at 1090g it is well above the figures given. To be fair: winspace didn't define the condition in which they specified the weight. I expected this and am actually happy with it. I have the bike in Chameleon white and love the look and paint quality. i will post some photos when i catch a sunny moment (which is quite unlikley in nothern germany right now ;) )

Winspaces unpainted frames are still about 10% heavier than advertised

What version of the frame do you have? The 2.0?
-
Yes i got the T1550 GEN 2 in chameleon white in size 520.
Let me share my first impressions: Straight out of the box, the quality seems very good. The paint job is great, and the visible parts of the frame make a good impression. The build went smoothly, without any problems. In the first few meters, the build gives a very solid impression: nothing rattles, no noises from the bottom bracket, even under heavy load. In the chosen size(56cm stack), I feel comfortable. It feels noticeably more compact and aerodynamic than my old 58cm frame. The bike rides very well. As mentioned by others, it is very stiff. When ordering, I was concerned that it might be too stiff, even uncomfortable. After three 100km rides, I cannot confirm this. I don't feel uncomfortable at all.
Overall i already love the bike.

If you like it, its weight doesn’t matter. ;D
But for me it perfectly fits the image of those Chinese manufacturers always claiming too low frame and fork weights, unfortunately. Not that they’re the only ones (Factor, Trek, BMC, …)

Has anyone had a chance to compare the Gen 2 to an SL8 yet? do you think the performances are equivalent or the SL8 is still better?
-
I have the Gen 1 T1500. Other than updated tire clearance and a revised geometry the T1550 is essentially the same 5+ year old frame. This isn't really a terrible thing. The T1500 is very capable and race proven bike. If that's important to you.
T1500/T1550 is incredibly stiff. Not harsh or sloppy, like a few sub-$800 frames I've tested, but the riding dynamics are very much on the firmer side of things. This leads to a responsive ride for climbing and acceleration. It really is a race bike meaning if you can take advantage of its qualities on a regular basis it's fantastic. Otherwise there may be Z2 days where you'll be yearning for a softer ride. I suspect it rides similar to the old Venge.
Regarding the riding dynamics of the SL8, it's the most "accessible" frame I've tested. Makes sense given the popularity. And price. The low frame weight is very tangible and it handles crosswinds exceptionally well. Riding comfort is next level. Almost to the point you'd think the frame isn't stiff at all, but it climbs like a dream. Very controlled while descending. And yes the SL8 is fast as you can imagine.
The downside to the SL8 is the frame is so refined that it's not always the most lively/exciting bike to ride. It lacks a bit of character. The NPC of bikes if you will.
-
Hi, is anyone using the Magene PES P505 on the Winspace 1550 2.0? Have you had any issues? I know the official site says it's not supported, but I've seen that some people managed to install it on other T47 frames.
-
I think that the weight is given unpainted.
Ordered the same bike in same colour and size, 105 steam. I'm 183 cm.
