Hi all
I’m looking for the cheapest options of gravel frames including shipping below 400-500 USD.
It can be alloy, can be heavy, but it needs to be of good quality (safety).
Any ideas? To be clear, I mean the lowest pricing segment, ideally significantly below velobuild and co.
Cheers and ride on

The BXT 135 gravel frame set is $345 USD right now with free shipping.

SPCycle also has the G056 gravel frame which seems a bit more modern and I've seen this frame under other brands. (It's a bit more expensive, but I'd wait for an AliEx coupon sale).

Aluminium then. you can find cheap ass frames on Alibaba, you can order one as sample.
In carbon, to be significantly cheaper than velobuild is asking for trouble. We know velobuild is safe, but they are running a tight ship. they dont really do discounts, they dont really do marketing, they are a lean operator, they clearly compete on price.
If you buy the cheapest carbon frame you find on aliexpress, there's so much that can go wrong, the risk of time & energy you may have to waste trying to get shit to work...
China will absolutely sell you trash if you ask for it.

I also tend more to aluminum. Any brands or frame models to recommend? They don’t seem popular on alibaba

Tsunami GR02, thats a good aluminum frame.

Tsunami GR02, thats a good aluminum frame.
I second that. Mine was like $325 shipped to the US (11/11 sale). It's well made and the paint is excellent. It is a bit more of an all-road bike, but it's great on smooth gravel roads and rough pavement.

Flyxii fe 02 goes for about $400 shipped.

Any other recommendations for metal frames with wider tyre clearances than the Tsunami Seaboard GR02? 42mm is a bit small. Ideally I'd like 50mm, also to be able to easily use fenders.

This store has a few gravel frames with free shipping. T47 BB and semi-ICR if that's your thing (easier for travel). With the current coupons, it's quite reasonable.
Only issue is that it's somewhat "heavy" for a carbon frame, but I figure it's probably a bit more robust for gravel

Nice, thanks. I was also eyeing the Chasing Wind (CWind) GR30, https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005678330464.html. They look very similar, are they the same?

It's probably an open mold frame and/or the sellers are buying the frame from the same factory. I'd say go with whomever has the best price.

Defintely open mold, Seraph/TanTan offers the same also with integrated handelbar as option.
I had good experiences with both CWind and TanTan AliX stores an this frame would currently be one of my favorites for a Gravel build...

Other alloy options are from Mosso (Taiwan), e.g., http://www.mosso.com.tw/products.php?func=p_detail&p_id=319&pc_parent=2
You can find their other gravel frames here: http://www.mosso.com.tw/products.php?func=p_list&pc_parent=2 (use the filter tool or find the ones that series end with GVL)
I am not sure if they accept direct order.

Not under 500 but VB CX002 seems great.

With the upcoming sale, I'm thinking of the giving the Flyxii gravel frameset a try. It should be under $300 USD with coupons. It's semi-ICR, but it has that simple Crux-like geometry that I prefer.

You thinking of the FE-02 or FE-03? Both seem pretty capable.

The TanTan (Seraph) GR029 (also released under various names by other brands, i.e. Flyxii FE-806) is pretty close to the pre-gravelfied Crux.
Lots of folks have built these up in recent years, and was convinced myself by Adam Myerson, who has 3 of these built up. Great bike, can't complain at all.

The FE-02 is on sale with free shipping. I'd need to get a seat post, probably an Elita One. Though I already have an older gravel/cx frame that I'm running 1x GRX, but it's bugging me because the brake cabling is external. I'm also thinking of just getting the LTwoo eGR groupset. I've become spoiled by perfectly tuned shifting on my ER9 road bikes.
