Title: Chasing Wind G30 U Carbon Frame
Post by: swhelan on August 21, 2024, 05:36:53 PM
Maybe have lost my first post in the wrong forum so I’ll post here.

Anyone have experience with this frame? I’m thinking about buying it to build my first gravel bike.

Not that specific iteration however I've done a build on the GT30 (previous model, as far as I can see the only difference is the mech hanger type now being UDH).

Generally, really like the frame. Only specific problem I had with it was running a power wire to the rear mech through the drive-side rear-stay, as it's _really_ narrow just behind the bottom bracket. If you're running a fully wireless setup you wouldn't have that issue.

I love the look of this. Sorely tempted to take that colour for my G068 "build". A question as I know they are very similar/the same.

You said on your build thread that running the cables for the derailleur was very tight. I have no personal experience with electric groupsets. How does the cable diameter compare to a traditional mechanical cable? I imagine thinner (I don’t imagine they need a very thick gauge of wire) but just guessing.

its the size of the connector at each end of the cable that is the issue. The L-Twoo I used one is _very_ slightly wider than a Shimano Di2 connector (maybe 5-6mm diameter). I had to grease up the connector and really jank it though (attached to a routing kit), which was a little un-nerving! I knew it would fit as I could get a brake cable through with the head (which is one of my internal routing go-to's), but it was a close-run thing!

I'm proud to say this exact bike got a "Super Nice" on GCN Tech's Bike Vault. I'm really happy with how it finished up, both in terms of performance and looks.

the G20 (EPS version) might be worth looking at. and it does look like a ENVE MOG without the downtube storage.
