Title: Are wider tyres on TT bikes coming?
Post by: Serge_K on October 04, 2024, 02:40:30 AM
Hello.
I'm considering TT/triathlon frames. Velobuild, Winow, Tantan, flybikes have compelling options, for eg.
It seems to me that the TT/triathlon world is still riding 23, 25C and seems to see 28C as the final frontier, even though on the road, 28C is now the bare minimum for most, and we now consider 32-34-36mm wide rims with 28/30/32C tyres following the rule of 105 as weapons for speed.

What am i missing? TT/triathlon world has historically been at the forefront of aerodynamics, for obvious reasons.

Essentially, my question is whether it's future proof or not to buy a 28C frame, because VB & Winow are the only 2 frames clearing 32C, ALL the others i've seen only clear 28. And does anyone know who's the OEM that makes the VB frame?

my TanTan tt912 clears 32C  ; parcours internal width 22.5mm with gp5000 4seasons(clincher, not the astr).
and im highly expect tt913 and tt918 clears them too as theyre 2024 frame releases
