Title: Carbonda CFM1001 / DIY Carbon DCB F140 Fork travel limitations
Post by: Vortac on October 09, 2024, 06:39:39 PM
Fork travel recommendations by frame manufacturer suggest travel between 140-150mm.  Found the fork I really want but it’s got 160mm travel.

Has anybody over-traveled this frame with a fork that has 10mm more vs recommended travel?  Any recommendations or suggestions or consequences about this?  I usually never go outside of the manufacturers recommendations on anything I build, but in this case I’m not too sure 10mm would make too much of a difference.

Anybody care to educate me a bit on this?
Thx!

What fork? Any reason you can’t just lower the travel by 10mm by swapping out the air spring?

Didn’t think that would be an option, good point.  Looking at a 2022 Rockshox Lyric Ultimate RC2 29”, in red…. Could that be done to this type of fork?

Yes. That can be done. Just google the fork name and then air shaft and you will fine options.
