Title: Carbon Wheelset and integrated handlebars
Post by: BepoStambuk on October 19, 2024, 04:03:13 AM
Hi guys, posted a few days ago about some handlebars from AliE but still, can you give me some recommendation for carbon integrated handlebars? My budget is about 100-150 for them...

Plus i was looking at Elitewheels flow (https://a.aliexpress.com/_EI8B7uH) - these ones. Does anyone have any experience with them or any other model? My budget for rims is around 400ish€ plus minus 100. Thank you guys for your help.

Élite is one of the preferred budget option here, yuanan the oem for them is well recommended here as are light carbon and Carbon speed

i can recommend airwolf's T1000 (allegedly) cockpit for about 100 eur, on AliX. I bought 6, very happy. afaik they only one 1 such model on alix, you cant miss it.
dont buy airwolf frames though.

for wheels, agree w Ludo. you can message Peter from Xiamen carbon speed on whatsapp and ask him what he can do with your budget, it's enough for a really nice set of wheels with T800, good steel spokes (you can ask for pillar wing 20 if budget allows) and house hubs. Dont get the 100% T700 option, wont be as nice, it's worth spending a little bit extra (really not much).

I canceled my order with Elite Wheels as their delivery date shown on AliX was way over promised and switched to XMCarbonspeed-slightly higher price, better specs, and had the wheels in about 10 days shipped with FedEx.

If I was a little more patient, I could have opted for no spoke holes in the rim bed for even easier tubeless set up.

Yes, elite is a huuuge animal. You'll get what you order, the wheels won't self destruct from under you. I would suggest you check with Peter from Xiamen carbon speed because I think it's nice to talk to a human and Yuanan and elite often gave me egregious lead times when I asked for quotes, but safety wise, yes, elite is a safe brand.

I bought a set of Elite wheels on Amazon... Quick delivery, thousands of miles, whoosh whoosh sound aero (60mm), no problems. Def the lowest hassle option IMO.

Fantastic quality and definitely safe.

Farsports is good for wheels, too. Think there is a consensus that farsports is good. I've used them for 10+ years personally.

The reason I went with peter/ carbonspeed, is the rim width is a more modern with 33+ outer width fit for tires of 30-32c (as long as your bike has plenty of tire clearance) These elite ones are 28mm outer width so typically optimized to use 25 or 26c tires. I wouldnt buy a new aero wheelset optimized for less than a 28c tire. Wider tire is supposedly faster up to 32c, and 32c feels like an all road bike to me. I am waiting on shipping so no experience riding them yet

So i won't be able to fit 28 mm tires on elitewheels? My bike supports max width of 28 mm but i think i could squeeze 30 or 32 in. But i preffer 28. As far as i know there is a table on this page
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006902683405.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.0.0.7437nRkmnRkms3&mp=1
that says that recommended tire width for 50 mm deep wheel is from 25 to 43c which as far as i know is from 25mm wide tire to 43mm wide right?

If you look up the 105% rule or tire to rim transition, essentially you will want the external width of the rim to be about the same as the measured width of the tire for an aero wheelset. 28c is probably fine but wont be optimal because that 28c tire will measure like 29mm on the wheel. If you go with a much larger tire than external width you basically gain nothing from the deep aero wheel and are better off going with light climbing wheels.
