Title: What bike lock do you use?
Post by: bennytalent on March 03, 2025, 06:12:15 PM
I'm trying to be cheapskate because times are tough and I somehow lost my existing cable lock. Are there any decent Chinese locks I can get for the cheap?

One of those foldable steel ones maybe?

Please don't buy a cheap lock. If you care about your bike, get a good lock.

I have a carbon frame that I won't let put of my sight for more than a few seconds, I'm just looking for something that will keep my beater bike safe long enough for quick grocery run unless a guy is stalking me with his angle grinder

Buy good or buy twice (locker and bike XD)

I have a kryptonite evolution. There is a better one New YORK. Very heavy.

Yet, I don't leave any of my bikes out of sight (unless I am trying to justify a new one). But of course, depends on where u live

I lock my bike to my body with my hand. It's free!

I sleep next to my bikes!  ;D

The thieves in my city will steal bikes in gated apartments, use ladders for outdoor balconies and break into your house if they know you have nice bikes.

Best lock is 2 locks that are Ulock or chain lock. And not let it overnight outside. I've had to cut locks for clients and with a wireless flex, always been less than 20 seconds for a U or a chain. Kryptonite or Abus. Lock it better than you Neighbour, and you 'll have more chance to find it intact

why do you need a bike lock? It's for the "cafe stop" or to secure the bike in the garage?

For cafe stop put biggest front and smaller rear (53*11) and the chain half on the sproket, half down

It's not a lock but helps
