Title: Carbon Bike Kits Wheelsets?
Post by: rekj16 on April 08, 2025, 08:59:32 AM
Hey all - thanks very much for all of the input on this forum. I've learned a lot.

I'm looking for a 45mm deep wheelset and am pretty intrigued by this option: https://www.carbonbikekits.com/carbon-road-gravel-cx-disc-bike/360g-ultralight-700c-40x31mm-symmetric-carbon-tubeless-gravel-cx-rim-big-hole-center-distance-1.

Anyone have experience with this company? I've found a post here or there on weightweenies, or here, but not much conclusive. Some people seem to say their measurements aren't 100 percent: https://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=176957&start=45.

Also, on a side note, any thoughts about that rim profile? Will be running 28mm Gp5k.

Thanks!

Hmmm I condidered tem then did bot bother.
Most people on here are using XM Carbon Speed so look at this Xiamen Carbon Speed 10 years anniversary special promotion thread by XM Carbon speed.

Also Patrick Lino as reviewed there products

So I don not think you can go wrong, good quality, price and customer service.
I have compered XM with CBK and prices are pretty much the same and lots of wheel option form the grade of carbon, to steel or carbon spokes, depths and hubs

Yeah, I have strongly considered Peter's options and wish I could buy from him. He doesn't seem to have 45mm in stock at the moment, which is the depth I'd prefer. I know it's not a huge difference to 50mm, but throwing 50mm on a climbing bike just starts to look a little funky from my perspective, so I'm trying to find 45mm options.

I’ve been dealing with Angler on WhatsApp — communication has been really good. I ordered some wheels last week, and he said they’d take 2–3 weeks to make and ship, so hopefully they’re going out this week.

He messaged me today asking if I wanted a carbon spider for the crank. I told him I’d actually prefer a power meter if he can get hold of one, and he said he can. I also asked him to look into some carbon chainrings similar to the ones on my Cybrei cranks — like the Cybrei rings. He’s going to check tomorrow, as Peter from XM mentioned they’re releasing some in about four weeks.

Xiamen’s a pretty tight-knit scene, so I’m hoping he can sort it out.

If you want, I can DM you his WhatsApp. They do 45mm rims with 25mm internal and 31.8mm external widths — available in hooked or hookless — and in three different carbon grades with varying prices.
