Ok i recieved my DFS carbon crank yesterday and they are a new player as some of us know to this forum
24mm Titanium Spindle
165mm Crank - coming in at the advertised 320g which is right on the nose!
13g for sundries etc: lockring, pedal washers, and shims (though I may only need one or no shims for install).
Shipping took as long as quoted, and everything was very well packed, so no issues there.
The only downside is there are no installation instructions. I reached out to the company, and it seems they’ve produced the crank but haven’t yet managed to create a manual, and they ae also in the process of locating to a new larger facility so I can understand if things are a little all over the place
Not ideal, as you either have to rely on your own knowledge or risk damaging the product. Carbon fiber products, in particular, need instructions due to their delicate nature and the need for specific torque settings. I was advised to use the Cybrei manual, as it’s essentially the same. No big surprise, as their cranks are fairly generic at this point.
Now, I just need to wait for the frame I ordered and see how the installation goes and how the cranks perform. But so far, I’m happy with the quality and finish. Overall, I’ve had good communication during the purchase process, and the quality of the products has been solid. I hope the company takes note of the feedback about the instructions, as that’s really the only thing left to address.

Do you have any closeups ? This is black paint with glossy clear coat right ?

UD Gloss Over Carbon
There’s a base coat applied around the pedal thread and axle areas of the crank. I’ve not done this before, but I’m considering sanding it back and applying a clear coat so the UD carbon is fully visible. If anyone has experience with this process or this specific kit, any advice would be greatly appreciated

Well I actually uploaded 8 photos super annoying!

I like that the outer diametre of the spindle doesn't taper much in the middle, like it does with Cybrei and last gen Elilee. Should allow them to achieve better/same stiffness with less material than the two I mention.

According to there test data it is
And almost on par with SRAM Red

Thank you very much.
Yeah at least from the fotos it’s hardly noticeable.
Maybe check the weivhtweenies thread for sram red crank. Many sanded it down to remove the SRAM logos.

Do they have deformation data for titanium spindle version ?
-
this is for the dub spindle
didn’t really look closely, sorry.
I don’t think there’s much difference to be honest—titanium is stiffer than aluminium anyway.
From what I’ve seen in the test data, you’re really splitting hairs between the cranks.
Any differences are probably negligible in real-world use, so I’m not too fussed.
I’ve got the Cybrei DUB on my SL8 and that’s a fantastic crank—plenty stiff.
I only went with the 24mm version this time because I’ve got a 24mm Hambini BSA bottom bracket lying around
-
For elilee the 24 is slightly less stiff according to their chart.
Hm, does the DFS also have a hex key bolt on the drive side?
-
Can I ask what the price delivered is please.

Hopefully the video work this time!

Great thank you very much
Ah I was wrong. The non drive side is interesting. So no two extractor bolts on both sides .

You only need the Bolt on the drive Side this is the same as Elilee and Cybrei
It would look better finished on the Non-Drive side like the Cybrei or Elilee with a diffrent cover cap or blank cap
