Title: Lightcarbon painting quality?
Post by: AlexxRR on May 18, 2025, 12:53:21 AM
Hello

I'm a bit torn between ordering the 017 frame in matte black finish or painted with a single bright color.
I'm concerned about possible scratching and chipping and I´d like to hear some experience to this regard.

Thanks in advance.

I have their gravel frame with a chameleon paint and after two years it holds up great even though i rode it through some chuncky stuff.
The complaint I have though is that part of the fork on the crown was not clearcoated and it appears matte which is annoying. makes me think that there's not much in terms of paint QC during the manufacturing

You could ask same question in the Topic of the frame instead of creating new. Also there are some reviews to read first with different paint jobs.

You are right, I could.
But I don´t think it would be the right place.
My question regards the factory and its painting process and not a specific frame model.
Further, I'm not interested to how painting schemes and colors look like, but how well the paint holds up.

I have another frame from them, glossy black with sparks. The paintwork is fine but very thin, I chipped the paint near chainstays within a week, the paint is quite prone to scratches and abrasives too.

I am quite harsh to my bikes, but this one had quite short service of ~2,5 years and in this time it is clearly more scratched then the rest.
