Title: Gravel / Road bike frame for a youngling
Post by: moijk on May 23, 2025, 05:18:51 AM
My 11 year old have been asking me for years to get him a road bike. I didn't want to give him one with 24" wheels since that's a bit boring, and I don't like rim brake bikes so the used marked here is not much to cheer for

So I am thinking aluminium frame (not sure his daily school run and parkign will be carbon friendly), room for 40cc tire, disc brakes, pref hydraluic, 1x..

He is about 150 now. so if I target a height range around 155, that would be about the smallest 700c frames.

Anyone with experience with smaller frames? now given I want 700c it's going probably to be a less than ideal headangle and such but 700c rolls so much better.

My daughter is a bit over 140 and riding a standard Ridley Fenix XXS frame...

Die the youngest of kids in our teams we so far used mostly Ridley, felt or BH.

In EU felt frames are currently quite cheaply available at grantourismo bike (Austria, Salzburg) since they get the previous year frames directly from the factory... If you're lucky (and from the EU) you'll find a fitting bargain there, cheaper then importing
