Title: Aliexpress BH90 compatible brake hose
Post by: danielG169 on June 13, 2025, 01:54:41 AM
Hello! Has anyone tried using some of those cheap AliExpress BH90 hoses? They're like 20% of the price of genuine shimano brake hose, so I am a bit skeptical

I assumed a hydro brake hose was a hydro brake hose. Turns out i was wrong. My rear brake is now awful, i need to swap back to something decent (i replaced the ltwoo hose with the cheapest hose i could find). I bled, adjusted and what not, i'm quite sure it's a hose problem.
People here have confirmed that not all hydro hoses are in fact created equal.
So, as a general rule of thumb, i wouldn't buy the most expensive ones, but i'd go for a middle ground, and stay away from the cheapest ones.

Thanks for the answer. I am only needing to swap them out because of internal routing and using the routing tool deforms the end of the cable, needing it to be cut. Meanwhile, mine are already cut to size.

I am thinking if maybe there is a way to glue/tie some cable to the end and pull it through with the frame, so that I leave a guide behind and don't have to take the cables out of the integrated handlebar and stem, then I can mess with the headset and use the same method to glue/tie the old cables to the guides and pull them back... Routing through the frame was not that big of an issue since I could go back to front + I already have the foam inserts there, which might stay in place and provide further guidance. But going front to back might complicate things

aliexpress sells a little thingy that screws into both hoses, so you can pull the old one and feed the new one in one movement. i bought it, i'm yet to use it. it does bite into the hose fairly well, but idk if it's really able to go through the 90 degree bends in the cockpit. i doubt it tbh. I need to swap that hose and plan to use it. Ltwoo ships hoses attached to calipers with a metal hook that lets you use an old school gear cable as a guide, and you can really pull on that, it's great. But i dont think you can buy that standalone unfortunately.

I know about those, but anything that goes inside the hose is going to deform it and will probably lead to leaks, so I don't want to do anything like that.

As for the olive, you can remove it without any problem. It's recommended to always swap the olive if you take the cables out and crush a new one
