It's interesting to me how it seems as though 50% of those that try an oval chainring say they feel there is an improvement in pedaling performance and 50% say they really don't notice much of a difference and end up going back to a round chainring.

Nice looking chainring though, what the retail on that ring?  Out of curiosity, I wonder if they make a Boost compatible ring.

Ive used AbsoluteBlack ovals before in 32t but never 30t, but changed cranks so went back to 32t round that came on my X01 then found this online at LORDGUNbicycles.com. My own experience is that they make a difference to me but others would say not as you say. It was £54.77 plus shipping which came out at total 72 euro's. Check out the website and they may do.....

Is it nice for chain retention?

No problems at all, great chain line too as the same 6mm offset as the Sram X-Sync 32T it replaced, will back pedal in all gears without dropping as well....

I haven't dropped a chain yet. Lol...I haven't dropped a chain with any of the narrow wide rings I used.
