Title: VYRO, new shifting technology
Post by: tripleDot on June 17, 2017, 08:54:35 PM
Just saw this VYRO Components video. It's actually over a year old but I'm guessing it is gonna be new news to some (or most) of us here.

VYRO Shifting Technology (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrx72PqEJxU)

So what's your opinion? Love it, hate it or hmmmm, I don't know? Personally, more points of failure.

Looks similar to Suntour Beast, which did not gain much success:

The VYRO looks like some good engineering, the Suntour looks interesting as well, however, it came out at a time when everyone is moving to 1x setups and getting rid of the front derailleur altogether.

Was thinking about that too, if they set it up on a road or CX bike, that would have made more sense.

Agreed,  Road or Cyclocross makes sense.  1x is the future for MTB, especially when the 12 speed starts to trickle down to the less expensive component groups.

Recently SRAM released Eagle GX so I think the lower cost 1x12 is already here.

If I remember well, it will be about half the price for only 200g more.
Not sure why someone would buy the Eagle in XX1 after that.
