Title: What rear shock??
Post by: Andy on August 26, 2014, 10:46:28 PM
What rear shock is everyone using on their Ip-036 frame?  Opinions and any info on soft, med, hard tune, pro pedal, etc welcomed.  Thanks!
Andy. :)

Fox CTD Remote 2014.  Was pumped up high for my Bikepacking trip, in climb mode it was nice and firm.  Have now dropped the pressure down and still dialling it in. Its my first FS so don't have much comparison TBH but I think I would like something with full lock out. Maybe an LCTD ?  ;D

I'm using a RockShox Monarch RT3 (Mid Reb/High Comp) aaaand, it works! Pretty sure it would be better with medium compression though, it's not the softest/most complient on the terrain I've ridden but I'm still having a fiddle, at 80km/h on terrible Welsh roads while bikepacking however it was lovely.

I installed a Fox CTD Boost Valve remote (6.5x1.5), but the Rockshox Monarch RT3 is also a good choice.  Those are the two most popular choice for the IP-036 shock, I think DT Swiss also makes a shock that will work but it's typically more expensive.

I like my Fox CTD because it has a three setting that I can select from the bar using a Twin-loc lever which selects both the front fork and rear shock setting.

Only shock I could find when build time came, was a DT Swiss M212 Remote: http://www.bike24.com/p238006.html
Most other brands was sold out, or had 2-3 months delivery time.

I run it with my Fox float 29" fork and have dual lock-out from the handlebar - like the Scott SparkĀ“s.
