Title: Just a couple Pics
Post by: 325racer on May 12, 2015, 12:47:25 AM
Spent a little time cleaning, had some bad creaking from the BB over the weekend so decided I needed to do a little maintenance.   Washed the bike, checked for cracks, lubed chain, pulled/re-greased BB, compounded, then waxed.  All in preparation for a race I'm doing Wednesday evening where I just hope to finish, as I've been hurting on rides lately.

Not specifically before, but pretty close.

After cleaning, she's so shiny!

And some others.

Another maintenance item for folks to check is the. Rear wheel axle adapters.  I've twice now had them come loose, causing side to side play in the rear wheel.   You don't really feel it riding (at least I dont) but if you grab your wheel and move it side to side you feel it.

Are you referring to the dropouts that are screwed to the frame?  If so then yes, I would agree those are always good to check, I found one of mine loose so I went through and applied blue Loctite to all of the screws on the dropouts for both my bikes.

No the adapters that thread into the hub to change from standard QR or 12mm.

Where did you get that number plate?
Thanks,

Number plate was from a race series last year.  This year, they unfortunately are using cheapo printed ones.  They still carry an ID chip for timing, but not a nice hard plastic as they were last year.

I've got exactly the same. It's very annoying. After every ride I've to tighten them again. I think it's because the axle nut of the 12x142 axle become loose, tried to fix that, but nothing.

That's interesting, I have checked my rear wheels on both bikes and have not issue with my 12x142 adapters.  On my DT Swiss wheel the adapters are able to spin but are not loosening.

Looking good!

I've been regretting ordering a 3K gloss frame due to the fact that I won't have it until June. I could have had UD Matte 1.5 months ago. After seeing those pics I'm very happy to wait.   ;D

Front chainring is 32tooth, Wolf Tooth Spiderless version.  So far so good.

She took me to an OK for me 7th at a sprint race on Wednesday evening.  (In the beginner category)

Lovely bike.  Kind of similar to mine.  What does she weigh?

Thanks,

As ridden its about 21.5.  With pedals, pump, saddle bag, computer, etc.  Its about 1 lb heavier than I originally hoped it would be.

Is that fake woodgrain I see on the frame?  Like the wood side panel on cars?

If so, is it a decal or paint....looks really nice either way!

Yes it's wood graining.  Hand painted by an old school pin striper, Lyle Fisk.  It gets many comments when people see it for the first time.
