Title: Frame specs for 29er hardtails
Post by: maui400 on January 22, 2016, 06:01:08 AM
Hi,
I'm looking for a chiner frame that meets my needs best. Therefore I did some research about frames on the market. Now I'd like to share the information I found and hope it will be some help for you. The frames I was looking for are mostly of the lighter type. That's why popular frames like the 057 are missing on my list.
The listed frames are 19".

Attached to this post is my 29er geometry spreadsheet I created when I built mine.  It includes both hardtail and full suspension models.  There are several brand name frames list for comparison purposes.  Even though it is a FS frame, below is also the drawing for the FM/IP/CS-036 Large FS frame.

What a great collection of information for people looking for just the right one. Maybe add the Plus bike from Workswell? If you don't mind Boost axle spacing and an extra 125g (not for the weight conscious obviously) for comparable frames, it's still a great option that gives slightly shorter stays than the 062.

I have the Alibaba one on order. Will do a build and ride review once I get it.

I'm wondering if this thread might be a better sticky than mine as it covers more of the 29er hardtails out there, and mine kinda went off track a little with the weight weenie arguments. :)

My CS057 Ud glossy, and partially painted frame weighs in at 1242g. Thought this might be a good place to post it

I had missed that post in January!

I just want to add that I prefer to stay on the safe side when dealing with Chiner parts. I never go for the lightest. I get 2 hardtails. My 29" is 1300g and extremely solid. My wife has a 27.5" that is 1100g and I can really see a difference in solidity. It's fine as my wife stays mostly on the road and rides slowly :) but I would not use it on my trails.
I don't mean all light Chiner frames are fragile, just that the risk is higher.

I've run Specialized Ground Control 2.35 and currently running Racing Ralph 2.35 on the CS MB01, so it's safe you can fit a 2.35 in the frame.
