Re: Frame painters of Chinertown! How would you go about achieving this finish?? Looks like a glossy fade into a satin or matte paint. I would assume paint the glossy frist. and then the matte/satin. But maybe its the  other way around.

Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston)
Agree, but if you find someone who’s willing to go through all that for the clicks, let me know.
No one in the industry is going to do it (this industry thrives on marketing cherry-picked data and biased studies). So, all that’s left really are highly subjective user experience and uncontrolled experiments…

btw don't get me wrong there are a lot of value in talking about subjective experiences.  Because feel is an important factor in riding. take tire size and the psi even. Feel is as important as performance. Though brakes is something I would want the better stopping and feel( break rub or spoongyness)

For all we know the f1s preform better than the tests because he had trust in them and therefore went easier on them.

Re: LTK 268 Size 56 / VB-R-099 / Workswell WCB-R-268 Complete bike 1600 USD Oh that build is sick/lit/fire/ other adjectives indicating awesomeness.. I would totally try for this bike if I was closer.  Its pretty much one of the builds I am considering.  218/168 and the 99.

Well good luck.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Hi Everyone - tall rider question here.

I have spoken to Chris/Chris's regarding frame sizing (VB 168/199) - as i'm quite tall (1,96) with most of the height in my legs. My current bike has a seat rail-to-crank distance of 84 CM. With the VB 168 (56cm) frame the 40cm seatpost will have to come out to the max (10cm left in the seat-tube). It also means it will stick out by a good 30CM + saddle.

That might look quite odd but not technically an issue.

Any other tall riders on a 168? I might have to look at other frames that come in larger sizing/longer seat tubes.

Dang, I was looking at the 56 and slamming the seat post to the ground. and Buying the longest stem I can find hopefully 150mm or bigger. Actually this is my strategy for all the frames. Buy the biggest frame I can get away with slight adjustment in the seat.  then slam the seat and super long stem. I am 184ish.  I am all torso.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218

I really like the nerdy side of this forum about finding cheap but good parts and helping each other to build their dream bike.
But this corruption of perceptions that started a year or so ago annoys me.

I do believe there is a ton better marketing, true. From what I can see there is a lack of horror stories about misaligned BB inserts, disc brake mounts, seat tube issues, axle alignment, and what not. Which denotes better qc/qa.  Like I am hearing from VB or TT. With VB beating out tt with finish and quality by a lot.  I am saying winspace has better QA/QC and finishing. So there are no major issues.  But I can buy 2-3 frames for the price of ws frame.

ANd I would just find a LBS that could face the parts I needed. BB, disc, etc.  probably cost you 50 bucks max.

Though one tool would be nice to have is a BB tread tap.

Re: Recommendations for a carbon saddle?
Anyone have any info on this ThinkRider honeycomb saddle ~122g?

Seems pretty light considering the amount of padding. Also not completely sold on the 3D saddles I have another much heavier aliexpress one and the comfort is negligible however they do look pretty cool.

I think the money could be spent elsewhere for better weight saving. Sure it looks cool. But you are just paying for like what 20g over the standard "Padded" ones.

140g for $15  https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804534437825.html

And the ultra light one is $33.  Saved you $100 to spend on an  upgraded cassette and crankset if you haven't bought them. WHich would save you a lot more weight.  Or you could buy a number of saddles to try and find the one that works best for you. Anyways as a 3d printing Nerd. I wouldnt waste my money this is just a gimmick. I wonder is some one has made a saddle or the padding for us to print out?

I am sure I can design one. But I having tried to print tpu for the flex. here is an example. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5002056

I take it back its not a gimmick. Their is some losses. but I feel its not worth for the price. Maybe if you have deep pockets. and maybe if you were racing and maybe if you have done every thing else.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
The big one only if your torso is very long

I been trying to figure out the biggest frame I can with and still trying to find. I have a 76 to 80 mm inseam. And I am 182cm tall. I have a very long spine. I might even have and extra vertebrae.

Re: TFSA Carbon Frameset Build-Up
I have to say, there's a real sense of satisfaction after building out a bike. On top of that, on the group ride the bike easily kept pace with cyclists on top tier frames with far more expensive components. I'm amazed at how many roadies I meet who don't even know how to tune their derailleur.

I'm now itching to build more bikes, though I don't think my wife would be too happy to see N+1 bikes all over our house!

I have been raised to be my own mechanic. Cars, bike, what ever.  Right now I am tearing apart the cheap bike I have. Giving it an overhaul. I think its an important thing to know how to take care of your things.  I have repaired so many of my things.
