Re: XC frame comparable to Specialized Epic Evo (110mm travel)? I'm pretty certain NS didn't design anything ... AFAIK they're purely a catalogue brand.  They've tried to claim with both the 936 and others that they either designed it or had significant input, were called out and then fell silent.

Re: XC frame comparable to Specialized Epic Evo (110mm travel)? They were called out by community members, and then either FBA or Carbonda directly commented when asked, confirming that NS had nothing to do with the design process.  Not my story, others posted about it here and elsewhere.

Catalogue brands rarely employ anybody capable of doing any design or engineering work.  NS may have requested a 120mm option when FBA didn't have one planned (we don't know).  But that's a long way from design.  FBA and similar operations are a one-stop-shop.  Their focus is not on OEM work (not even sure they do it?), they're primarily an ODM.

It's not like NS are the only ones pretending they design, though.  Lots claim it.  Very few do it.  Vitus (CRC / Wiggle brand) are a classic one.

Re: New Lexon spirit I highly doubt the FM936 in either standard or SL layup is heavier than the Spirit.

Re: New Lexon spirit
Isn't the FM909 even lighter ?

Yes, but my statement still stands ...

Re: Carbonda FM909 After some back and forth with Adam at Carbonda, they've agreed to replace my linkage with a new painted one and the set of double bearings that are stuck in it.  They just want me to cut the old one when I install the new one.  Will report back when I receive it ... hopefully this time painted without the bearings in it :D

Re: Opinions on Elves frames
Not sure... what is a real 58?

As I'm sure you know, traditionally it's by seat tube.  Their 59 is a 56 by that sizing methodology.  Also, of frames of similar geo (Venge-like let's say), their 59 conforms to 56 in virtually every other brand.  So conforming to what's the norm for that kind of geo in 58 would be my definition, and with the particular geo of this frame that probably means a headtube of around 200, 580 seat tube, reach around 395, stack around 600, and what ever the tt is resultantly.

They've chosen a nominally larger sizing scheme to hide the fact that they don't make any larger frames.  But if you're tiny then they're great ... because they have a bunch of REALLY small sizes.  Given the way their size distribution is skewed they'd have better chosen HOBBITS instead of ELVES for their brand.

They sent it out today.  Also sent photos showing it with the big double bearings installed and no wads of clearcoat in the gap.  Probably have it around the new year.  Will report back then.

Re: What is the general vibe like with ordering from China these days? Just a note, for some reason Nextie barely get mentioned here.  But customer service was outstanding when I recently ordered an AGX45 rim for the front and ARX49 rim for the rear of a new gravel wheel build.    Product seems very good quality too.  They went out of their way to be helpful, great communication, and even upgraded my service from EMS to FedEx for free, as things were time limited.

In my experience thus far, customer service and overall experience tier list:

Outstanding - Nextie.
Very good - Speeder.
Good - Carbonda, FarSports - end result good but can take a bit longer to get there if you need to resolve any issues.
OK - LightBicycle, OG Evkin - end result also fine, but can take a LONG time to get there, and information accuracy not always 100%.

Re: 2022 Cervelo S5 The real S5 has enough points of failure and questionable design or engineering choices of its own.  I think going for a knock off of it would introduce an unacceptable level of risk to most informed riders.

Re: Rinasclta
Hi there,

anyone had any contact with this brand? Seems to be the oem for some other brands.

Kinda interested in this frame: https://rinascltabike.com/granite-aero-disc-road-frame/

Roadbike with 38c tyre clearance.

CouldnĀ“t find anything..

Cheers
Jim

Highly doubt they're an OEM ... and they're using stock images of 'their' factory on the website.
